Anyone know if the track's still open after that crash that got the council talking? And what the days for riding are? If I remember right it was most weekdays?

As far as I know it is still open. Was talking to someone up at Maddix a few weeks back who rides there regularly.

Black hill is the local MX Track in Waihi- on the gold mine land behind black hill- just look on google earth to the right of town by 1km. Ive just tried various methods to get the image on here but I guess im old and stupid- someone get me a teenager!

is it any good?? open to the public?? im trying to go further abroad to different tracks, and not just sticking to the waikato.I haven't been there for a while but it has mostly single jumps (which means you either scrub it or die... Or go slower), and isn't really groomed too often. The thing that's good about it is that it's open most weekdays so you can ride all the time if you get a key. It's a fun track if you're racing with someone and still have a bit of fun there but if you're expecting something like Taupo or Patetonga you will get a little disappointed. The beauty of it is that it's always fairly low key racing and it's open all the time so you don't have to plan your life around one weekend
You have to buy a key to get in but if you just go with someone who has a key I'm sure they won't mind, thats what I do. Just make sure you're not the last one to leave if you've followed someone who opened the gates in. Happened to me and I had to wait for someone to come and open the gate for me

could be a plan, im still keen to get up to woodhill/river head to have a look around. i do alot of riding by myself due to useless mates who are too lazy or under the thumb to go riding different places

havent been there in aaages!
its a good track tho, its normally pretty well groomed!
but its clay based so slippery as if its even thinking about raining.
They have the odd track day out there, normally advertised on silver bullet.
its definatley worth a go though!
