Went along to see the show tonight for the old mans birthday (give him a good night out after mum tootled off late last year from the big c) anyhoo went in with zero expectations. Well not quite true I expected it to be cheesy, forced and quite frankly shit.

Much to my dismay (insert "home alone" smiley) I found myself grinning, laughing and even cheering.

And they even had some bikes.

But I won't spill any details for those still to go. But if you are going, enjoy :D

Mister Clarkson rocks, no doubt. He was right on the button with "one-eyed Scottish git".

I'm bowing as I type, hail the Clarkson, hail, hail..............!!!!!!!

Was a good show indeed. Just seeing them in the flesh doing their thing was the highlight for me.

As for bikes, one was a GasGas doofer , wasnt sure what the others were.

Doing the same - only at 8pm.

Cost me a fortune to make up for it last night. She even told me she chose a really expensive wine (and did she fucken what) - just to teach me a lesson.

Great show went yesterday, very bloody hot in there tough as you have 3500 people sitting shoulder to shoulder. That was the only bad part of it.

maybe it's just me.
i don't get the fuss.

clarkson, a cock who once wrote in a national newspapare that he'd happily string up some wire in his village to get rid of bikers... another short dude who can't talk without sucking in a whole wad of air at the end of his sentences, and some hairy left over hippy! (who's not even here?! maybe he alone realises they're just glorified car show presenters?!)

i'd go to check out some of the cars in the exhibition tho'.

Went to the 5pm show this afternoon.

Had excellent seats near the centre aisle. So got to watch Clarkson & Hammond up close as they did their audience participation segment.

Thoroughly good fun. Would go again if it ever comes back to NZ.

I'm a great fan of Jeremy Clarkson. He's amusing, provocative & outrageous. But as a serious commentator on politics or anything else? Puh-lease!

PS: I enjoyed the show.

I said he was brilliant - not serious.

Serious - he is not.

Sadly tho' - I do think he would do a better job of running the UK than their current PM.

Fair enough, we all enjoy different things.

The success of Top Gear is that it is zany, full of unexpected things. The three presenters represent different attitudes to cars thereby covering a wide audience. Something for everyone. And they are clever.

Racing an aeroplane from London to Geneva(?), playing conkers with caravans, driving through the Deep South with gay liberal slogans on their cars....

It's Borat with an Oxbridge accent.....

Would people please stop saying that! I hear it like 50 times a day now. Can't people say anything original anymore? Why, all of a sudden, have people decided to be honest? Do they usually lie?

On some training I went on once and the instructor mentioned when anyone states "to be perfectly honest ...." then what ever they are saying is most likely to be exaggerated or a lie.

But as a serious commentator on politics or anything else? Puh-lease!

I am serious. Everything he says seems incredibly reasonable and serious to me. I have not encountered a more enlightened commentator on political issues than Mr. Clarkson.

Would people please stop saying that! I hear it like 50 times a day now. Can't people say anything original anymore? Why, all of a sudden, have people decided to be honest? Do they usually lie?

At the end of the day it's a free world and people can say just what they feel like Finn. ;)

To be serious then - the inclusion of "to be honest" in my original statement was an indication that I actually wasn't being completely honest. Mr. Clarkson is very entertaining, but not a political commentator.

Yep - the best opening when getting into deep-bullshitting territory.

Honestly Finn, to be honest, in all honesty, honesty is considered being honest be some.

Returns this Thursday. I was a little disappointed last year (esp as I went to the Crusty Deamons the week following - which rocked!!!).

This year its bigger and they have a motoring festival which looks like it will be lots of fun. I have a mate involved with the motoring show part and apparently there will be some real car porn there - again better than last year.

Still $ short and the gap between paydays long so thought I would give it a miss this time around. A hard decision as I love topgear - but hey with a wife and kids to feed - we all have to be grown up sometimes.

But then this morning a mate called and comped me gala dinner tickets (yep - dinner hosted by Clarkson and May) and the full on VIP treatment (and a special private show). :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Totallystoked (could never afford to buy those tickets). Been like a kid waiting for xmas all day - and only 3 more sleeps to go!

One word comes to mind...prick. BIG prick.

You don't deserve them since you didn't like last years effort which I thought was pretty cool! In saying that it was the first time I'd been to something like that (I don't get out much).

Anyway, you suck!

Review:

Started in the VIP area. Many, many stuck up people more interested in who was looking at them than anything else. Grabbed beer - walked out to look at cars. Saw several chicks from TV - more makeup than the avon factory. Look ok on telly - wouldn't touch 'em with Fatt Max's in real life.

Motor show - mussle cars were brilliant. Only a few Ferraris - although the old 275 was like sex on wheels - just stunning. Loved it. Other than that this part was not as good as last years. Less cars and the ones that were there were less exotic.

Into the show - wont say much about this as I dont want to give away anything so will limit it to two things:

1 - its fucken hot in there - turn on the air con for gods sake.
2 - its lots better than last years show.

Backstage pass. $20extra for 5 mins walk. Only thing back there worth looking at was the Enzo. (I could so go for one of those).

Festival - summed up in one word. shit.

Gala dinner was very good. Clarkson was a very good speaker, funny, quick witted and dosnt mind saying fuck a lot.

All in all - I was there for the show and the dinner. and I loved it. The add-ons were exactly that and it showed - but the show itself was very, very good, very professional and well worth going to - a good night out for any petrolhead - Just remember to take in a bottle of water with you.

I went to the last show of the tour. It was 80% retarded and 20% awesome. Glad i got the tickets for free would not pay to see that shit again. Got to see some awesome Ferraris at the motor show which made me happy. What didnt make me happy was people charging ridiculous prices to have a go in "simulators" which you can just play at home.

Totaly agree. i love everything top gear but last nights show was, well lame. if i had paid full price i would be very let down as there were no kids prices so it was full price for all.
You would think that after all this time they might get the timing of the gags right.
stunts on the stage were very good but there is only so many handbrake turns you can do before it gets a bit old.
The little pink car (suzuki i think) going around on the raised bit was pretty cool.

you could tell it was the last show as they just seemed very tired.

sil3nt

I am a greg murphy fan but he was rather annoying. I didn't notice that little suzuki until it had just about finished its spins. That battle at the end with the stig was quite possibly the stupidest thing i have ever seen.

Our seats were on the far left but as it was not sold out we moved to the back center and got a much better view of the whole thing. The yelling to make a car go faster and holding up signs to make it turn was incredibly painful.

BoristheBiter
22nd February 2010, 20:19
oh wasn't it just. we were in the middle up the back so we could see well.
nearly as bad was the "circle of death" what a joke.
If i had paid $160 for a seat i would be asking for a refund.
A very cheap looking show allround.
