You would be best to seafreight it, One would assume it is not a brand new bike (i.e no fuels/oils in it) therefore it is treated as a Dangerous Good, Seafreighting would be over half the price, if you can withstand a longer transit time.

Now who was that racer (during the 90s??) who disassembled his whole bike, put it in his luggage, and airfreighted it that way?:spudwhat:

I was talking to our local physiotherapist yesterday - she and her partner are taking their Harley to South Australia in September. I think they're doing it in a container and it takes around 7 days. She said it was going to be about $1600 all up. I know it's not by air but if you're interested, I could put you in touch with them if you need to know anything about documentation etc.

holy cow.. that'd be an effort! What about the extra weight charges etc? I take it, it was probably cheaper to pay those than to ship it?
Would love to have seen that..
Yes, hello Miss. Here's my passport, my ticket, carry on, and *ahem* my luggage.. :gob:

Lucky they weren't x-raying bags back then.

It wasn't him I was thinking of. It was in either the '80s or '90s, and it was (if I remember correctly) someone who was racing in Australia, and who took the bike apart, and spread the bits through several bags and 'smuggled' it through customs (I think he was actually 'caught' but they waved him through).
I tried googling it, but it didn't turn up anything.
Someone here must know? :spudwhat:
Anyway, getting back to the original question, it'd be very expensive to airfreight a bike, because it would have to be crated, so with the bike plus crate, you'd be up for freight on 300 kg. Cheaper to send by surface. Or ride it wherever
