SWERVE

One of my sponsers has just bought a 09 sv650 and is going to start racing in clubmans this year.
We were wondering what gearing do you 650 guys use for Sth island tracks. He did ruapuna yesterday and felt like it was not pulling hard enough out of corners and not pulling enough revs at end of main straight.( this may also be because he isnt carrying enough corner speed yet!!!!) This is a bog standard sv so any info on ratios would be great.
Also can you go up to a 180 rear tyre on these.
Does it fit in swingarm......... will rim be to narrow....... does it make it steer too slow.
Answers please

Not to sure on gearing but he also must remember that it is just an sv 650.
He can go to a 180 rear tyre but will either be clubmans or f3, Pro twins will allow you to put a 120/70r17 on the front bt the rear must stay a 160.

mate deoends on what he's used to riding. Peak power on a SV is at about 9500 so if he's revvin it out in all gears that could be his problem.
Torque fron omn here ran factory gearing in his lightly modded SV and was a top ten finisher in the nats

A good thing about plonky old sv's is they aren't that gearing sensitive. 1 tooth less on the front should work everywhere except puke and teretonga (standard should be sweet there) - but that requires a 520 conversion.
I ran an old 195 (!) Dunlop rear slick yesterday ($100 cheers Eddie) which fitted fine and worked pretty well (er for 2 races at least) - but see Driftns' post above for protwin rules (what a joke).
