Taking a trip down to Waiouru tommorow to see my bro graduate, and at the moment it looks like I have an entire morning on Wednesday to waste while I wait for him to recover from the biggest hangover an 18 year old will ever see.
Are there any stand out adv tracks to be done around the area? I was planning on just pootling around until I found something (theres a 4x4 road going up to a ski field... worth doing?)

The road up to Tukino is a nice wee ride provided the gate is open, look up Tukino on the web for their number & call up & ask.
Further afield & a bit gnarlier is the 42 Traverse from near the base of the Bruce Rd to Owhango.
Cheers

The 42 traverse is open for motorbikes? I thought it was a dedicated moutain bike track?

Ponder this I must. Will depend on time and weather I guess... Also how much alcohol I consume the night before.
Cheers for the advise guys! Great help!

You can get a GPS tracklog of the trcak from the link in my signature, or from CooneyR's adv routes site.
If you have google earth you can them overlay it in that.

Well, fancy that?? I will be there too, to see my SON pass out!!!( god, I'll prolly pass-out....dressed like a pingwing in the midday son!!)
Like to say...'see ya there'....however, that is unlikely!
Tonnes of good garvel rides, just follow a map, can't go wrong.

Think i did see you! Were you on the bmw?
I was that army guy in the green uniform standing on the sideline...
Was your son finishing IOT or TFCC?
Unfortunately, due to the ball and after-ball antics, I was in no state to do anything but ride straight home to Auckland the next day. Will have to make another trip down there soon to have a look at tracks!

I would be keen to join you. I have done the 42 on the mountain bike before, would love to rip through it on a motorbike tho.

Guys check out the King Country adventure ride thread, as on the Sunday we will be doing both the 42nd and Fishers track .
Im sure Paladin would love to have another 2 KLX`s along on the ride. Would out number the DT230`S then.:girlfight:

Would be keen but I am super busy, will have to see if I can make it to that one.
And as a bonus I will have my big boy license, and maybe a big boy bike.
I am pretty sure the trip down to CP on the KLX with the seat the way it is would kill me, so it may depend on having said license/bike.

Yeah C.h.r.i.s & 3L4NS1R come on the King Country Adv ride, it'll be a blast to have 3 KLX's on the go!!!!! Those DT230's had me outnumbered 3 to 1 on the SCAR - time to reverse that!!! :bash:
Would be good to finally meet you AKL riders too and this looks a great opportunity to do that on some great tracks and gravel roads about halfway-ish between Welly & AKL!

Well even if not on the KLX but on a new big boy bike, come along, it's gonna be a good adventure!

Good point - should have guessed you would be otherwise engaged that weekend mate! Next time!
