Long story:
Hey, I've been planing to change my brakes to some ones that i have reconditioned for i while. Then WOF man said my braided lines are not to spec ok i have some rubber ones. Ive put my new brakes on with old rubber hoses, bleed them till we couldn't see anymore bubblies. But they feel rubbish. I was driving along pulling the leaver in all they way with nothing happening. (I could feel it after a few pumps). So the question arises. Are the master cylinder of different sizes?
Original calipers where fzr400 89 ones replaced with my reconditioned frz400 88 ones. The brake line is off the 88.

Short story:
If my master two fzr400 ('88 '89) master cylinders both say 5/8 and appear to be the same size, are they? Is it worth changing to the '88 master cylinder. Or should i continue to bleed and pray to the gods of hydraulics to free the bubblies.

Sounds like you need to bleed the master clyinder first. Pull the lever in and crack the banjo bolt, you should see the fluid spurt out in an explosive fashion. Tighten the bolt before you let the lever out, repeat untill the fluid oozes, then all the air should be gone. If that's the case just bleed again at the caliper nipples and it should all be good.

You still have air in there or on odd occasions the dust seals are rooted, but said recond. They will be 5/8 mc.

May need to take callipers off & clamp in higher position to get bleed nipples to top.

Yam rubber lines deteriorate. Buy some HEL brand braided off alert eng in auckland, they have the right numbers for WOF & are good price, may have to send old ones to copy.
