This year went even better than the year before. Bikes reliably fast.
Dedication and commitment pays off. Next years looking like a really exciting year for F3 with more bikes under development and what feels like a revival of interest in the class.

This year/next year I suspect Its gonna be far far more difficult given the level of competition the ozzy bike gave

Some life in the old dog yet aye.
I had an awesome run down south (gawd they are stunning tracks in the south :niceone: )
Bad luck followed some of my key competition this year with Jason Easton building a really cool trick bike but having a rough run in his first shakedown season & Terry Fitzgerald having a bad run at Teratonga, whilst Jason Nairn caught pneumonia.
Thanks to my sponsors Redpath Greenhouses (thats me), and pit mates Steve & Gary for putting up with me.
Great to see some new blood and new bike development (Ozzy 450) in the field at the last round ! (well done Glen S).
Looking forward to finihing off at Pukekohe & having a beer...........
Cheers to all the kiwibikers that have called in and introduced themselves + all you guys & gals on-line that support the sport of road racing.

Yeah,The only rider ever who has ordered 2 sets of fairings + paint so if he crashed the bike it would still look like new and then doesnt use them when he does crash cause he didnt have any stickers too put on them!!Go figure.Just goes too prove my point in the other thread doesnt it,You dont have too be einstien too win a championship.Bwahahahaha

Good stuff Glen! I dont think i've ever seen you not ride well.
Looking forward to next season........
Formula Three saw an upset at the last round, when local Palmerston North rider Glen Williams (Suzuki), clinched the title for the second year, but following some technical checks, he and second placed fellow Suzuki pilot, New Plymouth’s Terry Fitzgerald, lost their points for the round and will now need to contest the final round to put their championship positions beyond doubt
What's the story there? Anyone know what reason they were dq'd for?

Is that someone jumping the gun?
There was a protest on some technical grounds but everyone thought that it affected neither Glen nor Terry.
More murkiness in the MNZ closet?
What's the haps?

Good Luck- What ever you do, DO not take MNZ to court over it mate, you may get called a money hungry bugger like a certain man a few years ago did when he challenged a ruling!

YO- Is this the rule issue that is in question re your bike/s dude?
.
Additionally these machines must retain the standard OEMair box, air filter element and
carburettor (with the exception of removable jets or throttle body, including injector).

I have asked some one else to publish it mate, it is NOT my place to do it really!!!!
But basically, some one has attacked Glen and Terry F by calling them blatant deffinate cheating scum bags,( The writer himself is rather unusall in life also)
Now that really is a slanderish thing to say about these 2 men
The way the RULE in question is written- those guys were NOT using ILLEGAL bikes, they were using the rule book to there adantage, and have both built LEGAL bikes!!!!! Bloody simple, the real problem lies in the way the rule book is written
It leaves GREY area;s where people with healthy brains, can work it to there advantage.
I have asked for over 7 years to be responsible of proof reading the rule book, to word it so there are NO grey area's in wording, but have not gotten to do it yet.

Yip,Bloody amazing innit.Easy to shoot your mouth off when youre bikes not out there to be scrutinised.Especially when the writers bike was as fast as it was a couple of years ago and thats the funniest part. The writer is busy overstating the facts,I mean ram air system,Get a grip!and when he was riding his bike was heaps faster than Terrys. Its one thing to lodge a protest,Which by the way NOBODY had the guts to do,But its another thing to send slanderous full of shit emails out when MNZ finally after 3 years make a decision and decide the riders had misinterpreted the rules,Even though those riders had questioned whether what they were doing was legal. But then I forgot. All the cheating that goes on in NZ roadracing happens in the North Island BWAHAHAHAHA!About now 3 or 4 250 proddy champs would be ducking for cover

I agree with Shauns comments, mostly. And it is not lost on many that have sat and viewed these charades that irrespective of induction ( ram air effect doesnt happen until around 380mph ) Terry and Glen would still smoke the green bikes. Their SV650s also happen to handle a lot better because theyve put the time and money into doing so.

I'm not going to comment on who did what or who's protesting who, it's not my place and quite frankly, I don't give a toss.
What I will say is, a tech inspection took place, an investigation was held, a decision made, the respondents appeal the descision. That is how this system works, right?
So the outcome will not be influenced by anyone calling anyone else a cheating bastard, nor a bunch of people debating on a website who's a wingeing prick and who's not. Correct?
So why don't we all just wait for the powers that be to finalise their findings and the appeal and move on.
It's all about interpretation Plain and simple.

And sadly the interpretations  of the interpretation can sometimes be interpreted differantly as well :nono:
My 2 cents worth..... protest away if you feel its a valid call but dont try to smear and bad mouth to get people on side. The rule is the ruling limiter.

The current set of rules specificallyrelating to f3 were written a bloody long time ago. near as I can see they have been added to over the years very much like a sticking plaster on top of a leaking sticking plaster every time a new bike --or type of bike becomes available.
Given the precedent set By Ozzy and his 450 tripple Im wondering how the rule book will be adjusted to accomodate the backyarders loooking at the tripple and thinking of destroked 600 4's or of building 450's from hondas or yamaha's. Then of course theres one person suggesting that 500 cc multi's should be legal. Think of all those 636 kwakkas that would suddenly be weapon of choice.
To my mind a set of rules surely should be written on the KISS principle so theres no room for interpretation. For example given that there are only 3/4 650 twins available then the specific Kawasaki/suzuki/hyusung --(maybee cagiva) part number should be quoted

Well now its official,Glen has most definitely secured the Championship for another year and he did it without the use of the much talked about "ram air system".Hard to believe that both him and Terry could beat everybody bar the Ozzy 450 convincingly as they were down by a massive 1.2hp from Manfeild.Watch this space,This is FAR from over.
Bren_chch
8th March 2009, 19:50
would it really be as much as 1.2hp? no... maybe .5 :wari:
Anyhow congratulation to Glen, he did it again! I wonder if next year he will be back on a 450 r6

Great effort Glen you where always going to be the guy to beat and there were a few strong contenders to take the title away from you.
Manfeild saw the Ozzy450 come from a great concept to a winning machine. The fiasco over the airbox on the SV650 could have been avoided completely if whoever made the decision had read the rules as written by MNZ before firing the loose cannon.
Only upside is your probably one the most scrutinized F3 champions with the extra checks performed at Puke so this should shut up any further speculators.
Next years nationals are looking very exciting with hopefully more 450 triples being built and piloted by riders of the caliber of Glen Scachill.

Re: 2009 NZ Formula three road race championship final result
Terry Fitzgerald and Glen Williams are pleased to advise that we have successfully appealed to the governing body (MNZ), against a claimed infringement of machine specification when competing at round four of the 2009 NZ road race championship.
The appeal was upheld and the original decision overturned on both counts of "The Technical aspect" and also "The infringement" . All lost championship points were reinstated and no penalty exists.
Terry and Glen would like to thank all of their supporters and expert witnesses that assisted in making this a successful appeal and also thank MNZ for conducting a fair and constructive enquiry into this matter.
We look forward to moving onto next years championship with a clear conscience and a newly invigorated commitment !
