Serves him right. He could have killed someone and the fabric of society could have crumbled and the caused the end of civilisation as we know it (PT).

That's a shocker mate. THIS is yet another example of why there's a growing backlash and ill-feeling against the police in general.

Yup. My dad has been driving for 70 years and never had a ticket until the last couple of years he has got 2. Both times clear days, no traffic, less than 20k over the limit. His opinion of the modern trafic police has declined accordingly.

I hope he knows better than to complain aloud about this entirely self-afflicted and avoidable misfortune...

Too many whingers already.

so he did these speeds when he first got his license? I think not.
I find it really amusing when people complain that the elderly get shat on by the cops (now here comes the bad reps by everyone :brick: its only the truth folks), cos well i think they should (WHAMMO :angry2: the RSA motorcycle group are gonna rep the crap out of me :apint: ).
There are 2 types of people that scare the living shit out of me on NZ roads;

a) The obvious fuckwits, they race to where they are going, the honk theyre horns, they think they are gods gift the road.....yadayada - typically women/men from cities or boi racers or 40 year olds with V8's/turbos.

and b) The unobvious, they drive living in a dream land, they dont look what goes around them, they tend to drive fast too casually, accidents may avoid them for many years (not that they dont try), they find a transport to be a convience, not a responsibility. These people fall under, office workers, people who drive 100m or less when they can and (dum dum daaam) the elderly.

In my GB days, i used to sit on 110, cruising to whereever i was going - and this may shock you but i was passed all the times (esp SH1/2), not by tuboed Civics and Skylines.......but by people taking theyre 4wd w/boats, elderlys in Camrys and the like and the average family (2+2.5) going on a trip in the holden/ford.
So who has the most to loose?

I remind him of that but Nah he dosn't really complain - he's philosophical about it. After all, nearly seventy years of driving cars, trucks and farm equipment without an accident or ticket is a pretty damn good record.

It is pretty sad and I'm no fan of the ticket anyone at 11+ kph over the limit philosophy but the rules do apply to us all regardless of age or driving experience.

It wouldn't happen in my world and I don't know any cop that would do it unless the recipient was a real WINJA.

Yeah. I was piss-taking. I think doing him for 111ks was rather anal considering there was no one else around and it was on a nice straight road.

Doing eleven k over the limit in a built-up area where there is likely to be pedestrians or people suddenly emerging from driveways would be a different matter.

At the risk of bad rep, as has already been discussed in various threads, as soon as you cross the 100km/h line, you are breaking the law, and as such are criminally liable ie fines.
Its still shithouse though
