So if one makes a cartoon like this (a rather lame one):
<img src="http://www.cbsnews.com/images/2009/02/18/image4809295.jpg">
It's deemed racist etc etc.
But when you do this:
<img src="http://greatparanoiac.files.wordpress.com/2006/04/bush_chimp.JPG">
No one gives a fuck.
Why's that?
Maybe Mr. Merde is right, it's just the WASP in me talking :bleh:

It's all a bit over the top as usual of course, but I think what pushes the civil rights people's buttons is the echoes of old racist abuse where African Americans were likened to apes (even in serious scientific circles -- they did things like measure skull circumfrence and brow ridges etc.). There wasn't ever stuff like that about white Americans so nobody sees a reference (imagined or not) and gets upset.
To me, though, the cartoon just looks like it's saying the original stimulus bill was crap and was about as good as what a monkey could do.

Difference being the intent.
Obama is being called a monkey because of his color (remember lines like - "they ruined a perfectly god monkey when they cut your tail off boy")
Bush was called a monkey because - well he had the intelligence of a chump.
Besides if you want a cartoon that really pisses people off go for uncle mohammad.

No, that's just what Rev. Al Sharpton wants you to think. That angle never even occurred to me, I just read it as an attack on the intelligence of the Obamessiah...
