Hi There,

In the next couple of months im moving up from my 07 honda VTR 250. When i first saw the Street Triple R, i immediately said: Thats the bike for me! I have since taken one for a ride and was NOT disappointed, everything i thought it would be and more!

A couple of mates have said: take more bikes for a ride!, so i thought i would ask the KB community your thoughts.

I really dont feel comfortable on a full race-style position bike, and def dont like sitting up to straight. In other words: I like the position of the street triple!
What should i take for a ride? thats in a similar price range?

Thanks!'

Simon

The usual suspects: An SV650; A Hornet; A bandit; A monster; A Z750; A Buell for shits and giggles; Maybe even an FZ6. Try the vanilla Triple too, see if you feel like saving yourself $1500.

None of these are "bad". Well, except maybe the Z750. And maybe the FZ6. And I find SV's as bland as all fuck but not everybody does and this is the point - people want different things from bikes. Some people actually don't like how light the Triple feels, for instance. So give at least a few bikes a go before you plonk money on the counter....

SV1000 was neat, awesome sound, GSXF650 was fun, then again, I settled on a Striple as well.

Get the triple man. One of the few bikes I'd shift off my Tuono for.

If you have the dosh the Triumph is a nice nice ride. R model is dearer, nothing wrong with the standard Street model.

There is a new Hornet 600 out ($15 I think).

There is also the Ducati and Aprilia Shiver to consider in the Street price range.

Harley's new Sportster sport-bike thingy is around $16k also (chicks dig Harleys!).

And if you want to spend less go for the SV650 and a nice Yoshi can.

At the end of the day you sound like you really liked the Street - go for another ride and if you think its even better the second time around just order one without riding anything else. You'll be happy.

Rocket 3 or Hayabusa could be a good step up from your 250

Maybe I should workdown from the 250.. Next stop 125? Maybe that might make this thread stand out from all the other "what bike next" threads huh? ;)

best way is to go out and test ride the bikes you like and see what you think of them. theres not much point in asking people on the net what they think you should get

When buying a car..I can negotiate pretty well, cos any car will do!

But bikes...it's emotional. If you are drawn to the Stripper...sorry S Tripple, then get it man!

How would you be if you go for better value, or more sensible, and in 2 months your looking at s tripples and thinking "I wish I had one"

Just try not to show your hand at the shop...take your Dad along to haggle!
