I just thought I would mention a Bike Shop (Jeff Marshall Motorcycles, Ashburton) that went well out of there way to help me and my wife in a time of need...
We were off 2up to the Longdrop Rally last year at Duntroon on my 955 Daytona...
My wife wanted to stop off in Ashburton for lunch at that nice place on the main road out for that yummy fudge... not for me to say no...
Luckily we did because as we dismounted the bike her comment was something along the lines of is all this oil meant to be on my riding gear...
On examination I saw I had lost my oil filler bung and oil had made it's way all down the right side of the bike and covered half of the rear tyre...
it was just before 12 noon so did not know if any bike shops were open..
Luckily Jeff Marshall Motorcycles were still open and willing to help so close to the end of there day....
The guys there totally cleaned the bike down, then sprayed and water blasted the rear end, found a new temporary bung that stopped any more oil escaping, topped up the engine oil, gave us spray and cloths to wipe down our riding gear and boots.... they even let me do some burnouts on the car park to get rid of any oil residue on the rear tyre after the clean down...
At the end I asked what I owe them as they supplied cleaning sprays, oil etc and they said not to worry about it... could not even twist there arms to pay...
A bloody good bunch of guys that I would recommend at a drop of a hat.... I tell people who are looking for a Suzuki to get a bike from them and tell them my story... If I ever buy a new Suzuki then it will be from them...

Good on them.
That will come back to them 10 fold in the future....
See, you have already put their name all over the net.
Would be great if all shops were like that.
I remember many moons ago my CBR400 developed an electrical fault on a Sunday. My mate rang Phil Turnbull himself to open up the shop so I could store my bike there over night, and get it fixed on Monday.
From that day on I always got my bikes serviced there, and always bought goodies through them. All because of one guy going out of his way.
Shame he sold the place...

Nothing like hanging your unmentionables out on the line for the neighbours to see ah?

Very good idea. And maybe send them a little note of thanks as well?
I really enjoy giving small tokens of appreciation to businesses that go out of their way to be helpful (not just bike shops). A box of chocolates, some muffins for smoko, a dozen beer or a bunch of flowers. (Maybe not flowers for a bike shop - the mechanic might think you're trying to pick him up. :eek5:)
Things like that don't need to cost much but always end up with good feelings all around. If you can drop them off personally you'll get to see the surprise and pleasure of the bike shop staff - always gives me warm fuzzy feelings.
