Finally have got this back on the road
About 18 months ago sheared a stud holding the front cylinder to the cases
Have replaced stud and reassembled - it was less than a days work when I finally got around to doing it.

Bike is nowhere even close to standard
It had been modified extensively when I bought it, since then the improvements and modifications have continued

Hey dude I rode at the hog rally this weekend, where apparently there were close to 2000 harleys. I didn,t see to many cafe racers there, and funny enuff, the same thing was said about my shovelhead. However It was enough to attract the media to my bike when they wnted to speak to some one for that nights channel one news. Good on you for keeping the heritage alive after all isn't that why most harley riders ( old and new ) ride HARLEY DAVIDSON:2guns:

Who cares? It looks cool just as it is. Older bikes morph as time goes by and that's where they get their 'individuality'. They are far more interesting to write/read about than 'retsos' imho.

Bike is brilliant to ride the bottom end was balanced by Bob Mead and runs smoother than my rubber mount evo
Mods
5 speed gear box
electric start
disc brakes performance machine front twin brembos rear
12 volt alternator electrics
2" over forks
external oil lines to heads
oil cooler
straight thru exhaust / no baffles
rubber mounted tanks
andrews A grind cam
skimmed flywheels
twin plugged heads
mikuni carb with S&S air cleaner
late model oil pump
80" flywheels
And on the dyno it puts out more torque than either my ducati or a standard evo
It makes one wonder what the hell the factory have been doing for the last 50 years - designing tee shirts, tank decals, biker lifestyle & finance packages

Doctor Bob eh? Haven't seen him for a while.
Your ride sounds awesome, pity I can't see it in the flesh.

You can, grab an air ticket and get to the festival of 1000 bikes in July, my bike will be there and it will be out on the track

IMO HD deliberetly dumb down the HP etc on their bikes so they can sell punters thousands of $ worth of Screaming Eagle 'go-fast' parts.
To back up my theory they even produce in limited numbers the SE bikes (at a huge premium of course) backed by a full factory warranty, and by all accounts they are super reliable as well.
So, I ask why not just make those SE's the standard big bore engines?
They do have some cool T-shirts though.
PS - nice bike.

If you look at the numbers the HP peaked with the Shovel, and then started going downhill, a 1996 evo was down about 20Hp compared to a 1986 evo, It was blamed on noise and emission controls, Which is why they bumped up the CC and launched the V-Rod.
Screaming eagle are more show then go, For a fraction of the cost you can buy far superior items.
I know someone who spent 54 thousand dollars on a Screaming Eagle V-Rod, he gets dragged off by his buddy who bought the base model and spent a couple grand on it.

update on this thread, electrics shorted out early last year sorted with some prompt reactions with the tin snips before it went up in flames
now have a realy wired in to the charging circuit so when the ignition is turned off the alernator and regulator is disconected, also have a heavy duty battery isolator switch on the earth to completely kill all the electrics
fitted an o ring chain, found out that there was insuffcient clearance between 5 speed gear box and 4 speed primaries, had to machine up a spacer for the gearbox sprocket and move gearbox over 2mm to get clearance for o ring chain
empty generator case on front of motor has been ditched, machines up a blanking plate with a oil filter mount aka evo sportster and now have a spin on oil filter residing in that space
and threw a new paint job on it as the old paint was somewhat jaded

What sort of time frame you looking at before you "finish".
The list you posted previously is accurate? I'd be keen to run it in a magazine issue.
