Midday Sat 21st March at the Western Viaduct Pier.
Birchy has designed some sort of Enduro-Cross course at the waterfront...should be cool to watch, or for those of you a little more hard core than me, might be cool to enter.

This as a bloody excellent idea. Make a good change from the usual freestyle demos. Bound to get some TV time and some good exposure for dirt bikes.

ADB mag article a couple of years ago had Aussies running an "endurocross" event in an arena. Looked very good. Logs, rocks, jumps, water obstacles - the lot.

Yeah its going to be pretty sweet, The track is going to be technical but not too extreme! It is a free event both for spectators and riders. I'll have some more info to send out in the next couple of days. Spread the word we need lots of keen riders and spectators. March the 21st

Are you allowed to enter on an AWD? Maybe the only chance I have of making it round  probably more upside down than upright AWD or not.

Chris has given me some posters to distribute. the picture shows a closely spaced track with no infeild.50/50 dirt and tarseal. old car bodies, cable drums, tyres and logs with a couple of jumps and a tunnel. at one point you jump off the wharf on to a barge then after a banked hi level turn on the barge made from small logs, you jump back onto the wharf and over the big pile of logs. Then through water spashes and across rocks and over the car body and some truck tyres. this diagram and full entry details will be on www.birchy.co.nz after the weekend.

One thing Chris mentioned last night is no trials tyres, as it's meant to be a cheap event and having to buy a tyre you wouldn't usually use defeats the purpose.

If you look at overseas events, a lot of the guys did use trials tyres, so it's a valid comment. Definitely will be there and hope the event gets the support to have it happen again at some stage :)

The wall ride SHOULD be OK, as long as it doesn't rain of get really slippery, depends what its made of i guess, but I can do turns that look similar on some pretty steep hills at my house, momentum is the key, the bike shouldn't fall off unless your going really slow or its slippery, either is possible

So back to topic.

May 9th, I think this is still to be confirmed. (WMCC enduro same day)

Anyway, whatever the date it will be great fun. Although the water temp will be a tad colder. LOL
This changes a couple of things and probably for the good.
a) Gives Birchy time to sort it out. (good things take time, as in the cheese ads. No, not the KB cheese. He's still sorting his stale fuel out).
b) Gives us all time to find some gnarly stuff to practice on. Get the confidence up.
c) Time to spread the word. Ideal event to say to NZ what a great sport/talent base we have in NZ!!!

Time to gee the MX guys up a bit to, there's got to be a few of them that could do it.

The skips filled with water & rocks sound seriously gnarley, any info on whether there will be anything either side & how high the lips will be ? ( not like we are thinking of getting one for the guys entering to practise with or anything ).

Be tough to have a 180 degree wall over water there I'd suspect, still room for plenty of skips full of rocks & water though.

Hello

Well it's been a bit of a struggle but we now have a confirmed concrete date for the Red Bull City Scramble, one that won't change and can't be affected by dodgy councils. 31st May 2009 is the date and the location is Britomart Place, behind the train station in Downtown Auckland. The old venue at the wharf became impossible due to conflicts with fisheries and other parties but the new Britomart venue is much bigger and much better.

Currently we are working on finishing off the track plan and a map should be available after Easter so you will all know what you're in for. I'm stoked as we have a lot more room for a bigger, faster track. The website will be soon. Entry for riders and spectators is still free and even better news is there is a pub next door to the track.

This is going to be a great event to be a part of and a huge chance to show off our sport to the masses. So keep May 31st free and see you there!

it does work, you just have to wait AGES for it to load properly after the red bar thing has filled up and gone away, the redbull logo just sits there untill a main page with a picture of what the track should look like and a few photos of chris riding along some logs?

- A link from birchy.co.nz to www.redbullcityscramble.co.nz
- With the related images, the one of you facing the camera ( 4th photo ) is not coming up on my system
- Be cool to have a higher resolution image of the track layout.

Wall of death being made in secret location so no you cant practice it.

Can the wall of death be made with a secret trapdoor that opens up if you hit it wrong and diverts you off into a pool of crocodiles - like on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom?!

yeh im sure well be round early where all keen as some concrete block would do or i could fill the boot with car battier from the work shop. Unless there is an area where it isnt concrete we can drive in the pegs.

Barty- what size is this EZUp? space is a premium. There will be 5 bikes under it.

Yeah, i know it makes me look a right frontin' fuck face. It sucks and it's largely Dave's fault for pulling out on me. If he had a KB account i'd invite everyone to red rep him... i didn't argue with him tho 'cos I'm a soft cock, wuss. Gutted

From the Aucklander's spectator thread ...

seeing as the map of the course I saw set the wall ride after the tyres which come just after the logs in the water, good chances that wall ride will be slick as. Should get some good crash shots....break a leg andrew if your riding in it, just be sure to look at my camera when you do :devil2:

Edit: I am mistaken, the water is a fair way before the wall ride, hmmm will have to bring a supersoaker with some diesel in it...*evil lol*

well offer still stands if you guys want to use the KB pit tent (marque) just need some block to tie it down to.

I'll be there and bring the blocks. I'll nick one of the works vans/trucks and pretend we're doing some work in the street/viaduct can then bring the BBQ and blocks!

Ive just been told that we dont have enough room for the tent- thanks anyway- we will use my two 3m x 3m ezyups.

Ive just built the supa dooper bash plate for my sacrificial Kawasaki 250-
Im not going to have some freestyle MXer teebone my KTM on the tabletop landing ramp so the little KLX will be getting all the attention this week:love:

To under stand a barty post you have to think like the barty. Its kind of like the spoon thing in "The Matrix" but in a different context.

Ive just been out sweating blood amongst the pine logs and bogs of a logged out hillside. god Im unfit!
I was wringing with sweat after getting to the top of the ridge and then back down again. its amazing how just a wet 200mm branch in a muddy hillside will slow you up. I was stuck for waay too long. Ive just fitted tugger staps front and rear- what a difference they make! After that I went to an old gold processing facility with big concrete foundations to climb up and drop off.
Im happy with my bike now- new oil in the forks and Ive clicked all my clickers till they are just right for my lazy fat arse. Bike is working well for a $1200 trade me special! especialy the whacking big sumpguard I made from alloy in a scrap bin!

I aim to be the wrinklyest rider on the oldest/shittyest bike:laugh:

Hope I dont get black flagged for being too slow!
