Just wanted to get the word out that Redline Track Days is holding a Women Only Group Track Day on Monday 20th April 2009 - If you haven't had a go on the track but have always wanted to, then now is the time... I guarantee you will be addicted after having a go, it's sooo much fun (exhilararting and scary rolled into one)! There will be helpful knowledgeable people there to give you a hand and offer instruction on riding technique too, so all in all a great day for upskilling. See details on website to register etc. See y'all there. :scooter: http://www.redlinetrackdays.co.nz/events.htm

:shifty:....maybe.
Seriosuly though, what is the reasoning behind women only trackdays. Unless you guys are implying that men are naturally faster riders who are more intimidating to ride with, in which case I can see many of the female riders I have met saying "wtf".
Once the bike gear has been donned and the bikes fired up whether one is male or female should not matter.
Inform me when the next blacks only trackday is running.
Not bein rude or nuffin, no sir, I's gonna get back to makin my corn bread sir, ohyeah yes sir.

Neva mind the corn bread, get back to the stove beeeach ;)
I've done one Suzuki track day (Zooki's only because Suzuki subsidise and do not feel they need to open it to all and sundry). I think I enjoyed it, but still not sure (it's over 6 months ago). We don't have the bike I rode any more, but I could still borrow another one if I wanted.
As soon as I saw this post, I told my husband that I'm taking a day off work in April. It's not actually the guys that intimidate the crap out of me, it's the whole thing. When I ride off-road, I ride either by myself or with female friends (and occasionally a whole group of guys & gals). When I ride road, I'm usually with guys.
I'd just like to try this trackday to see a) whether this will help my road riding phobias and b) see if a track day with only women helps me enjoy track days (my husband loves them).
Pukekohe would not be my choice of track (no, I've never ridden there but have been to plenty of race meets there), including a sad one last year.
I know to ride my own pace but still felt like a plonker (hmm, wonder why, I am).
Yes, it's a sexist idea, and there are some guys who would probably benefit as well, but for those of us who aren't competitive, easily intimidated and looking to improve our riding, it's a great experiment.
These are solely my thoughts, no idea of the organisers' way of thinking, but I'm keen (I will book myself in in a couple of weeks due to other things happening).
If you don't feel the need, or desire, good on you. You're lucky. One day I hope to actually have gained some confidence :) And as for the fast chicks, I wish I could swap brains with you guys for a bit and see how it feels. I overthink things (and also underthink other things), and wish I could figure it all out for longer than five minutes ;)

Whats wrong with having an only female track day?. If you are feeling left out then dress up like a female and join the rest of them that turn up for it, its that easy. I would like to 1 day see an only female road race class as they have them in Motocross.

It's for this reason that I've discounted it for myself. Plus the fact it's at Puke (one track I never want to ride).
I have been to a track day for only women (back in the days of BRM mag running them) and it was brilliant. I will say that the women at that day were definitely slower than most men so I could understand why they wanted to go there. Feeling slow and being seen to be slow are two completely different things!
But hey, with the availability of track days now I don't see the point in separating the sexes. You're just as likely to get useful advice and support from the guys there, IMO.

Yep, I'm led to believe that you can scrape anything.
 That sounds like what I do. I don't like the vibrations on my feet so have told Cajun he needs to get stompgrip for next time we take the 600 to the track.

So are you telling me that you wouldn't feel the slightest bit intimidated in a class or learning environment with a bunch of women, involving something that (stereotypically) women are generally perceived to be better at, such as cooking or sewing for example?
ETA I will be keen to participate if I can get a babysitter for the day ;) Sounds like a great idea :niceone:

:Pokey: You have mis-quoted me, sir! I was not stating or even implying that women actually are better at cooking or sewing, just that we generally (= not all the time) are perceived (= thought) to be. Do we need to chip in to buy you a dictionary sweets?

One word !!! I drop ONE word from the quote i chose to use !
And here was i believing that the stereotype that women were generally percieved to be pedantic was all cock and bull !
Generally = 2. with respect to the larger part; for the most part: a generally accurate interpretation of the facts.
Perceived = 2. to recognize, discern, envision, or understand: I perceive a note of sarcasm in your voice. This is a nice idea but I perceive difficulties in putting it into practice.

for your information I'm a bloody good cook and I know how to sew *sometimes gotta fix my own cloths haha*, I wouldnt be intimidated in the slightest if I was the only male learning sewing/cooking in aroom full of women....why should I be.
Mind you, I was the only male that worked at the daycare centre I worked for, for four years lol.
Drider....breaking down sterotypical boundries since 1987 haha

My wee girl likes beating other girls...and LOVES beating the boys....Girls only .... take that fun away.
However many women do and will feel intimidated by a) men and b) being on the track. Taking the men out of the picture for those ladies is a good and understandable move.
And it may encourage and build confidence those more timid members of the fairer sex...I am all for that.

Good idea. Mrs B. would seriously consider the idea of a women only track event. She'd also feel more comfortable asking other women about techniques / tips. Men on a track can = ego problems = reckless riding (I need to go faster than him head of the pack mentality). You see this on go-kart tracks.

Sorry, yeah the whole day isn't for women this time, but just one group. Puke is a good track. It's fast and some people feel intimidated by it but it's all about respect of the track and you'll be fine. I've ridden this about 5 times now and it's all about you and how hard you want to push it. Definitely no pressure to ride fast and most of all you haven't got those show off guys cutting you off on corners... haaa. Hope to see some of you gals out there.

Group 4 is a women only group as it is normally for super motards but given the straights at puke its not much fun on a motard, Women can still enter the other groups if they want to, the group is for those who are not as comfortable as others on the track:cool:

It's because girls ride better than boys and so we only get one group on the day :D
