Surely it would be much simpler to get a whole new scooter? I hope your 'mate' is going to give you the $1200 it cost you to buy...

With that much damage you might be better off quitting it and buying a whole scooter rather than most of a scooter as parts. I wouldn't be holding out much hope of your frame still being straight by the sounds of it.

I agree, scrap it and start again to be safer.

No, the moral of the story is don't let anyone else ride your scooter.
Hard learned lesson. My sympathies.

So on the subject of new scooters, what are your thoughts on the kymco brand of scooters, I've heard mixed reports on them, but with my hugely low budget(thanks bitch!)I need to aim low:(

Kymco will be ok. They're not supercheap, should do you ok. I think they're Taiwanese - better than most Chinese made scooters.

Nah, only lend them to people who agree with the bend it/mend it philosophy. There's only two people who've ridden my moped..
I've written off someone's 1959 Lambretta. My fault.. paid for it. It's only fair. I learned the valuable lesson of never ride a bike with only one locking brake..

Yeah - my husband crashed my 1959 vespa. After paying off the other vehicle, he put the vespa into a panel and paint shop in Palmy for a year or so while it got fixed. Still have it.

What about an Adly (from Scootling) - $2100 new. I was quite impressed with the one I rode, but my second hand Hyosung was cheaper, otherwise I was going to get one. It went well, and was a decent size.
Beter IMO than the Chinese Urban.
They are Taiwanese, and also available internationally so you can at a pinch get parts from overseas. They were sold as the Bug Jive (with 10" wheels) in Oz.

Mmm I've got a small amount saved here to use, $1200 to be precise, so I want to buy a scooter and soon!, there's a few suzukis on trademe around 900-1200 and I've heard Suzuki are good, has anyone dealt with scooter king on ferry road? They have pre-loved scooters with a 3 month warrenty, a warrenty sounds nice...
