While as Paeroa I had a wee accident at the beginning of the day.

I was trying to step over a low hanging chain fence and got the chain stuck between my sandal and my toes, thinking I had hit solid ground I lifted the other foot until I realised that my foot wasn't on solid ground and the only way for me to go was down.

While lying on the ground I didn't know whether to cry or laugh, Dan came over and asked if anything was broken...I didn't think so, so he gave me a hand up. Walked around a bit and my leg was killing me so decided to sit for a while. Mstrs and Yungatart came over and I preceded to tell them of my little mishap and Tart thought it best to elevate and ice it.

Got home and put my foot up as I was having trouble walking, looked at the size of my leg which had doubled in size and had increased with pain and thought to myself...oh that ain't good. Rest it and I'll be fine tomorrow.

Went to work and got ordered by work to go to the doc, it maybe broken. Off I hobble to the Doc's, got xrays done and nope it's not broken, got given the rest of the day off to rest it plus no riding for three days. Went back to work on Tues and the more I walked around the more it became swollen and painful, went back to the doc yesterday because I was getting pins and needles in my toes and the rest of my foot was swelling. I have badly bruised my leg where I hit the chain and now have this impressive lump which apparently won't be disappearing for a few weeks plus I have badly sprained my ankle, the pins and needles are due to me bruising the nerves in my leg. So now I have a cankle instead. Two more days off and not allowed to ride for at least till next week.

Attached are pics that were taken the other day. Swelling has gone down a little bit and the bruising is now really out, especially around my ankle.

Grrrr only I could do that much damage to myself. It didn't even look or feel like a huge fall.

Moral of the story...lift your leg well over a chain fence and wear sensible shoes.:stupid:

You could have at least washed your foot before the photo session. There appears to be a large dirty spot. Some people, eh. No pride in their appearance.

I went to different doc the second time due to the fact when they originally assessed it they didn't even touch it, just looked. Second doc was awesome.

Oh mate - I can soooo relate. Tis a good twist and yes, pins and needles can apply to excellent works of art like yours!
Keep it up, cool and don't walk around on it !!!!
When it the swelling goes down and walkable but stiff, gently massage arnica in to loosen up your tendons again. Tis times like these when ya need an autotransmission.

Ohhhh that looks very painful Sticky. I hear copious amounts of Red Wine helps in the healing process........

I did a similar thing at Pukekohe one year but actually tore ligaments. Still have problems with it.

R.I.C.E. Rest, Ice, Compression & Elevation. Ice for 20 mins, then off for 20 mins. Make yourself an appointment with a good physio too and start in some treatment on it. That is a nasty injury, probably would have been better if you had actually broken it mate, those things can take months to come right. I wore a boot of 4 months after twisting my ankle and rupturing a couple of the ligaments that hold your foot to your leg.

Ouch!

+1 to physio.....

Ankles (and cankles) are bastards to get right. Claim back some of your ACC levies and make sure you get physio.

Crikey that is massive swelling. Take care and heal quickly.

I am sure someone can find a way to attribute your accident to "excessive speed".

Where you wearing your helmet?

Take it easy and rest. If it does not get better soon, have it assessed again. Get well quick!

Its still pretty sore, Jorja lent me some crutches to use which has been a god send. It's taken ages to heal but put that down to I'm old and fragile

That's what happens when you end up sliding along the motorway in sneakers.
