So I have finally gone and bought my self an engine for the Fixxer. I'll be working on it and I'll see how I go, even if it isn't fixed on time, I'll have a ride one way or another, that's not an issue.

I was just wondering who else is up for a little blat down to the other side of the island and back. Ride down Saturday morning, have a piss up in town or somewhere with the Welly crew on Saturday night, then go for a little ride on Sunday through the Rimutakas and back to Auckland on the same day.

Right, so who else is up for it and does the date suit you guys, if not then we'll see when else we can do this thing. That goes the same for the Welly guys and girls, are you guys up for a piss up on Saturday night and a ride on Sunday the 27th?

Cheers!

Hmm...Na might be goin down there day before the Waikato Rally and that would make too many long rides all at once. But if you want to stop by the place on your way through I may be able to put some breakfast together. Have to see what money I have when you go.

(edit) speaking of food think I'll make myself some breakfast now...

Things took a turn for the better, looks as if the TL will be running for that weekend, so providing i keep it intact (which is proving a challenge) and work is all good, i'm in. So i'm guessing you won't be doing the Puke test day on the 26th, i'd rather ride to welly and give a certain Honda rider the learn :ar15:

Reminder to those coming down.

Slipstreams Inn is open most times for up to 5-6 people.

Failing that, I'm sure the White Trash Manor (*cough* Trailor) might be an option too.

SWEET!! Thats great news man!

I'll try to get things done today and knock off work a bit earlier to change the engine on my micro TL (FXR). If everything works out, I might take that to Welly, failing that. I'll try to borrow something...

I hope this is gunna be one cool road trip!

You're a sucker for punishment, aren't you?

Actually, I don't think the FXR would be too bad for that. Not much point going down via 22, though.

Why's that, is it uncomfertable for long trips?

Engine is now in the FXR and she is running, Cheers Aff-man for the hook up!

So is keen to come down to Welly with me? For real.

ATM I only have 1 or 2 maybes...

Also, is anyone keen for a good ride on Sunday the 27th of March through the takas?

If there isn't enough interest, I might just flag this and do Puke track day and go down to welly some other time.

Let me know...

Eeek, I've already blown up one gearbox last Easter, don't want to blow up another. Then there's my Labour weekend speeding ticket curse I have to get rid of as well...

Me, superstitious? Nah!

OK, this must be sign telling me to get my shit together for Taupo on the 3rd and just do the track day at Puke instead of making the trip down.

Sorry Jimmy, we'll have to come another time. It'll be boaring as heck to ride down to Welly by myself and back. I was looking at going with about 5 riders But Loosebruce's bike ain't ready, TS want's to do the track day as well, FF has other plans etc etc.

I just did it at the weekend - what's the problem??? I had great fun, and met up with other bikers when refueling etc (amazing the number of bikers I met around the country who came up to me and said "Are you Riff Raff?" - my bike has made me famous). Whilst it's nice to travel in a group - you can have just as much fun riding on your own.

Hey, which route did you take? I'm heading there on Thurs(24th) which means I'll be ALONE! :yeah:

Just planning my route and trying to get as much scenic riding as possible between here and Welly. Planning an early morning start and arriving just b4 dark in Welly (maybe 6-7ish). Any suggestions??? :ride:

Well if I had a brand new bike to explore new horizons on as well, I'd probably be as keen as you.

OR maybe it's just me. I am more of a group riding person for long trips. By my self I'd really get bored. If I pop a nice wheelie and the only one to witness it was a sheep on the road side, what good would that be? P.S. Who would I have races with to the next petrol station, who would I talk shit with at the petrol staion? (Strangers are fine to talk to but talking shit with a mate is of course a lot better). Plus if I break down on the road side, it is A LOT easier to jump on one of your mate's bikes and going to get help at the next stop. etc. etc.

But if you tell me, I'll meet some hot sexy, sex starved women in each of the small towns to make things interesting, then I wouldn't mind riding alone.

Well I came off night shift after having 1 hours doze - left at 9am and headed down to Hamilton then via Taranaki, Wanganui to Wellington. Took me 8 hours that way with lots of stops to drink V then to have pee's!
Came back via Wanganui, National Park, turned off at Otorohanga and up 39 to Ngaruawahia, then did the back road to Huntly and back to Auckland. That trip took 7 hours with a few stops on the way. I should point out that I wasn't exactly doing the speed limit for the majority of the trip.

Suggest get to Te Kuiti - turn left - Taumaraunui - Raetihi - Wanganui etc
or Te Kuiti - Benneydale - Taupo - Napier - Wairarapa (Takas)
or over Kaimais - Opotiki - Waioeka Gorge to Gisborne - Napier etc
(down the middle is BORING)
