Hey Folks Im thinking of organising a Track day at Taupo raceway for mid April
Cost will be about $50 each -Ill firm that up once I get an Idea of who's keen.
It will DEFINITELY be mid week is -tues,wends,thurs because weekend track hire is just rediculously priced.
Ill probably run 15 minute sessions and 3 groups -slow -Med and fast so everybody gets a good session without either being intimidated by the nutcased zooming past or frustrated by the slow guys
I'm sorta hoping that newer riders will take advantage of the chance and maybee do a bit of a training session with some of the fast/race guys in the slow sessions (extra track time for the "tutors too)
I thought we could try a little drag race into fast stopping session and maybee even a couple of "race" starts to give road riders a taste of being on the grid. -Then again if most guys dont wanna do that then we'll just do a shit loada riding.
Im gonna post a poll--you can vote twice -once for yes/no once for day preferred.
Um and the point of contention (sp) -If I can get a suitable date would you be prepared to pay a non refundable deposit?
Oh and anybody prepared to come down and be a flag marshal for the day will get 2 track sessions for free One at lunchtime and one at 4.00pm (end of the day)
for everybody else itll be at least 8 sessions on the track

Sounds good, but theres a lot on in April to pay for.
Manfield/ Vic club Rd`1
and KB meet 3
I would love to come and try the Taupo track wet or dry, But in April this would be 3rd priority for my piggy bank
Still,, may be able to make it. Any day of the week is fine, But lack of money means last minute decisions.
:argh:
Sorry!

Yip, but I can't do Manfield on the 23rd and then make it for the 24th to Puke as well. I am doing all 6 rounds of Manfield this year, all other races are just for practice. Anyway, it's the long track at Manfield on the 23rd so there's no way I'd miss that.

Im only thinking april cos its gonna start getting bloody cold after that
this month would be better but short notice stuff aint a happening thing
I think Ill call and see what dates are available
I've voted yes because I want to support anyone prepared to make the effort to organise a track day. Work may have other ideas and I'm not sure how us Wgtn riders can get there and back without taking more days off work. Bit of a hike to do in one day. Also I hear Taupo is a short tight track that may be unsuitable for bigger bikes like 1000 fours? Never been there. If the date picked is Ok I'm happy to make a deposit

Yea it is a short track, but lots of fun on any size bike. I did the day in Feb run by BRM, had never been on a track in my life. Yaahoo. If the day works for me, I'll be there again.

Mate im keen as, just so long as I have enough notice to pull a sickie at work haha. Am trying to save for a race bike at the moment but am still a wee way off so track days like this are probably my only chance to get out there...

35 riders on Taupo at one time, man thats asking for it, there'd have to be some sort of grouping.
Why not post a poll for it Tony, it's far enough away for people to do some sort of planing for it, being a sunday, should be easier for a majority to get to instead of week day, so chances are you may get 35 riders. Worth a try man. I for one would stretch out to $80 track hire for a good KB day at the track, not having to wait 40mins between car sessions like at puke!!!
Easy enough to get a BBQ sorted for a feed etc etc etc. Firefight could organise the meat for it, he's old enough to know a few local butchers in the area :Pokey:

Heres irony for you
Track days available.
10th of april-sunday
24th of april--No I aint shittin ya -But I think there wont be a lot of KBers there that day -well not with clear heads anyhoo
12th ,17th and 18th of may
As I said itll be run in 3 SEPERATE sessions slow ,MED and fast,
Track marshalls will get 2 free sessions
I would expect everybody else to get at least 8 sessions on the track of 15 minutes each - thats allowing 3x 15 minute sessions an hour
and 15 minutes for track clearing etc.
Anyone going a lot slower or faster than other guys will be moved up or down a grade
I would like to see everyone having a good day.

Could you put up a poll.... for the dates.
I'm willing to put a deposit down for the 12th of May......... but may be negotiable on the others....
Hey if we don;t get enough people do we get the deposit back if we don't go or do we have to pay the excess and go ride ourselves??

The way it works is whoever pays for the track pays for the track--FINI
So The $20 would be non refundable -Hardly a Huge investment really As I said though Im not out to make money here Just to have some really good riding.
