Crossed the Main Trunk Line this am just west of Ohaupo. The line is raised somewhat from the level of the road and tends to invite some degree of ramping up effect...:o
This morning as I crested the rise, there in the dip beyond was a little mob of ducks......all on the road. Mama and some maybe three-quarter grown chicks (musta been a late clutch). They kinda looked up as I came over the line and generally froze up. There was no way to stop in time and I had visions of mashed duck all over and maybe mashed fox as well...:shit:
Fortunately there was a wee gap between a couple of the chicks, for which I aimed. The ducks just stood there looking and I managed to zoom between them all - no harm done...:thud:
I reckon I am developing the strongest anal sphincter in the world ...

Check your choke effect...you are not getting an even scatter.
Edit: - lucky escape. Hitting anything the size of a duck can be nasty.

I nailed a rabbit, wasn't nice, but the worst thing about it was cleaning it out of the spokes, not the actual impact itself. Stand up on the pegs and go straight.

I'll use the skeet choke next time...not the full.

Back in the 55mph days, riding merrily along the road on my CB350...two ducks flew up of the side of the road.
My reactions were too slow and I did not duck in time...and I double ducked with my helmet. Boom boom.
Visor stoved in, bleeding nose and stunned. There was a brief black out but I regained composure before to late. Was on a straight and only veered slightly to the left.
There was a car behind me that stopped....went back picked up the ducks and drove off with out stopping to see how I was.... car drivers????

I hit three pheasants with my bike once. Sounds like I was lucky I didnt hit them with my helmet. It totally KFC'ed the pheasants (wing, drumstick, drumstick, breast, wing) and spread all the bits thorugh my engine and fairings. It was fucken disgusting, and it fucken stank for months. Ugh.

Yep
Hit a Pukeko once at 100kph.
Nailed it dead center with my front wheel.
There was an instant explosion of Blue Feathers a slight bump then clear air once again.
Looking back in the rear view mirror I saw that sucker squished to the road and divided clean in two.
The only trophy I got was a few feathers stuck under one floor board.
He had run across the road into the grass ni front of me but then changed his mind and ran straight back again. Had no time to even throttle off.
Kinda felt sorry for him afterwards.
