View Full Version : Saturday 26th March - there's gonna be a couple of Aucklanders in Wellytown.

:mega: Ok people listen up!
The lovely, talented Joni  and the talented, lovely Motoracer :wari: are gonna be arriving in Wellington on Easter Friday but Joni has suggested that they would both love to meet the equally talented and lovely Welly KBers for a few drinks on the Saturday night. What do ya reckon team - can we show them a good time?? Of course I hear you all cry!
So how about we all meet up on the Saturday (26th) night.
What do y'all think? We could do this instead of the (much dreaded/anticipated) Kareoke night.
So we have 2 options:
1) Meet up for drinks & pool from around 8.30pm onwards at The Hotel Bristol, Cuba St.
2) Meet up for dinner somewhere reasonably priced in town and then go on to drink & play pool after dinner.
Let me know :2thumbsup

This is a good a place as any, to promote my place as a KBer homestay.
Most times are OK, although some heads up is much appreciated.
I can "store" ( ) up to 5 people in my small home. Bare in mind that I do have 2 small children and sometimes it isn't always possible to house this many ... comfortably.
To summarise this babble.... Slipstream's Inn is open for KBer Wellington vistitors. PM me for accessibility and details. :niceone:

I am just checking my race calender and I am already getting enough (it's never enough but I am talking about money wise) track time through racing, without doing the track days.
That sounds like a plan CSL! I am keen to do either one of the options.
Can I please be one of the five to stay at your lovely inn SS? :)

Great stuff! Can people please PM me if they (and partners) want to go out for dinner before and we can make a booking somewhere if there is going to be a lot of us. I was thinking maybe that Indian resturant up Cuba St (can't recall the name though)...it's near the Star Mart.

I think she meant another one, no hold on, confused starmarts & thus streets.
Either way Tulsi or Daawat around the corner are good choices. Great India a little further toward Courtney is expensive & very average.

Yeah it is Tulsi.
Please PM me if you want to come to Tulsi (Cuba St), we can meet there at 6.30pm and it's next door to the Hotel Bristol, so perfect location. Sorry about the muck up with that link - it does appear whoever looks at the link is put on the attendance list - oooopsss.
I agree with you Dave regarding Little India - the service is top knotch but the food really average. My fav Indian resturant is actually Planet Spice in Newtown but, it's a little out of the way.

MM Lone Star...but now i am just complicating things....he he he.
The Lonestar is crowded & noisey & they don't take bookings you just have to turn up and wait for a table to come free - not a great place to actually be able to hold a conversation. We can have noisey & crowded once we go to the pub.
Tulsi is right beside the pub we're going to and reasonably priced I'd say.
Let me know if you're coming no later than the 21st March please. :niceone:
F5 Dave
8th March 2005, 15:32
Yeah Lonestar is expensive for what you get & getting in is a pain when it's busy. The Queenstown branch is much better. Much.
I'd rather go Tulsi (if I didn't have this wedding thing to go to) Don't be pussies, push you meat & 2 veg boundaries 1/2 a cm.
Ohh I'll have butter chicken, extra mild please. . . Chips?

RACING? WHAT RACING? I hope I am not missing any races! On the 26th I just wanted to pop over to Welly and say hello to the good folks there and ask if I could just have a wee little ride in their play ground on Sunday. We are just riding down and back in our bikes.
I was planing on leaving Auckland on Saturday morning to make the most of the roads during the day. If you wana meet up, I reckon, come for dinner/drinks and stay in Welly as well for the night, go for a ride on Sunday and ride back to Palmy with the rest of us heading back up north.

But the 26th is the youngests' birthday and I'm not sure if we're doing a b'day tea for him or something. If not then I'm sure I can con my Dad who we're staying with up there to baby sit for the evening.
Makes for a busy weekend with the eldest birthday on the following day.
Actually second thoughts, count Jay and I in. We can just do a birthday lunch for him, they're having a big party with all their friends when we get back anyway.

Guys - Thank you for a lovely evening - I had fun... :D
It was really nice to meet some new people as well.... JR, Ghost Lemur and MG, was a pleasure! :niceone:
I was reminded last night why I am so fond of the Welli KB'ers! Good to see you all again...

First thing though, please don't post too much about "Tulsi" here. I would like a new thread started, one which is viewed by everyone. They deserve the full wrath of the KB collective and all their associates :angry2: grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ;)
Now the important part:
It was a great evening guys/gals, thanks for all coming along. Was great to meet you Ghost Lemur(and partner), MadmadmadmadmadGuitarist, jrandom and of course Joni, who I have seen before :) You're all such a nice bunch of people, I can't believe some of you come from Orkland! hehe [pt]. It's great to put MORE names to faces (and personalities), it really does make a difference!!
The Karaoke bar was quite nice I must say. The only problem was that I was way too sober, since I needed to drive home. I wouldn't mind going back there sometime with a similar group for moral support :shifty: Way to go Cathy for getting up and singing, takes a lot of courage (even if it is Dutch).
I shall be riding up to Auckland over the Rally Weekend, since I think it will be cancelled, and I've already taken a day off on the following monday. Will be great to catch up with more faces while I'm there :2thumbsup
Now, I wonder if jrandom has awoken from his slumber( :drinknsin :drinknsin ), we're supposed to go for a ride....

Yes yes! Its was real cool meeting ouver1 and its aways fun to match my 'preconceptions' of what everyone looked like and their corresponding personalities.....
Always good not to have a hangover after a nite of partying... :shifty:
You welly Kbers are awesome! The hostest with the mostest award must go to you guys!! :Punk:
OK, here r some of the pics I took, with Ghost Lemur having quite a bit more of the karaoke.....

Thanks MadGuitarist. I'm glad you got me to fade out into the background, I'm tired of strange women turning up on my doorstep babling something about seeing me on the internet :msn-wink:

Just a quick check in.
Haven't had a chance to take the photos off the camera yet. Never fear it will be done and they will be posted.
It was great meeting you all, and even the Tulsi experience couldn't put a damper on our evening.
Special thanks to CSL for doing the hard yards organizing this get together.
Good to see you've registered here too finally MrCSL. ;)

Good to meet ya’ll of what I had dint B4. Bec was gutted when she found out we’d gone to a Karaoke bar, but she would have been asleep at any rate.
Had a great kebab down the road on my way home (the place I was eyeing up after we left the Bristol). Maybe should have gone there.
The problem with big groups is I’m sure they often take advantage of the situation. Our friends has a do in Theos greek restaurant & the service was utter shite, the food uninspiring & boring & nasty expensive, but the last guys out had to pay an extra $230!
That would have to mean (considering the drinks had to be purchased separately from the bar) about 5 people would have had to leave without paying. Sure. 5 of their mates stuck it to them, unlikely.
