I am getting prepared for the inevitable.
Today i just buggered both of my radiator shrouds, and inflicted more damage to my radiator, it doesn't leak but is no longer the same shape aso i am wondering if anyone has any shrouds or a good radiator they no longer need. Longshot I know.
Nothin on trademe.
Any other bits i would be interested in too.
Cheers

actually you may know, who is a good aluminium guy in Mot that could make me up some real strong alluminium radiator shrouds, same design as the flimsy plastic ones but aluminium.
mmmmm strong.
mmmmmm heavy.

some ideas for your fabricator here (http://www.dual-star.com/index2/Brand/Kawasaki/KLR%20650%20RadGuard.htm)
the lack of radiator protection on the klr is criminal - it was why I got my sw motech guards

Saw some possible substitute radiators at SuperCheap - transmission oil coolers. (don't laugh) Water pressure in the KLR is about 12- 13 psi, not too high, wouldn't imagine it would stresss a trans cooler. Might have to mod the connections a bit
The KLR radiator seems to be way oversized (probably designed for california stop start traffic in the height of summer) so something smaller should still have enough cooling capacity. I've blocked off half of my rad and the temp still never gets much off cool, even in the snotties such as the Southern Coast ride. The only time the fan has ever come on is when it has been idling in the side stand for about 10 minutes.
You could try an ally tank like this to protect the rad.

I was thinkin of trans coolers, i will look when I get back to work as I have them on the shelf. Mine gets hot quite regularly, esp on long uphills e.g. almost everytime I stop at the top of the maungatap the fan is going.

That looks like an early one 2000ish going by the rear fender and the shape of the swingarm.

It's a 07 or earlier in the course of being prepped for the Dakar by a Dutch company. Sponsored by BMW among others. Not sure what year it competed (or if it did compete)
Nice looking fuel tank and fairing, tho'

it might be faster, quicker, look better etc etc but in reality I don't think I'm actually going to have more fun than I did on ol' greenie
I feel guilty as hell selling that bike.
maybe I'll relax with the black bitch once I get a few scratches on it - its too perfect at the moment (sort of like the hot date who wont let you shag her versus the more accommodating but less well endowed girl next door)
BTW what sort of crappy nondescript avatar is that :2guns:
BRING BACK GONZO

I know what you mean - I don't even have to ask mine, she just falls on the ground with her legs in the air any old time.
