I need the money from my two bikes (zxr and kx125) by jan next year. I'm trying to sell the road bike as soon as poss. but it's nearly a year until I need the kx to go so I'm tempted to keep riding it until then but it's already high on hours and I'm wondering if more hours is going to lower the price much. Its an 07 kx125 about 144 hours, not long on top end rebuild comes with a spare engine casing and a new one on the LH side.

How much (if you were on the lookout for one) would you be willing to pay for it now, and how much for one with say 160 hours? Not a selling thread, I'm just wondering if it's worth riding for the rest of the year or will that lower the value too much? Thanks

Personally I would be more interested in how many hours since the last piston/rings change and gearbox oil change etc, rather than an extra 20 odd hours. The sooner after a piston change the better as you don't have to wrooy about the extra expense of changing it not long after you have got the bike.

By the time I sell it I would either put new rings and piston in. How much would you pay for an 07kx125 with 160 (max) hours on new pistons and rings?

Always wondered how you guys can tell the hours on these bikes. I thought they had no instruments?

Have they got a little clock or summat?

Have they got a little clock or summat? You can buy small "motominders"/ Hour meters (under different names per brand) which attach to a tank or frame for example, and have a cable that is zip-tied to the spark plug wire which starts timing when it senses a spark and starts timing like a stopwatch and then records it until the next time it starts up

A new 09 KX125 can be bought for $7995 So an 07 would fetch between 3900 to 4900 depending on condition.

if its next year... 3800-4000 max, prob around 3-3500 considering hours. Now you could get maybe 4200 if you waited long enough

2008 was the last year that KX125's were made, so not sure what that bike shop is smoking... I know someone selling a 08 kx for $5000, just had full service and pistons done. only got about 60hrs on it.

kx's from about 06 (maybe earlyer?) were only ever the same bike with new graphics and different serial numbers anyhow...
