Just a quick vid of the new Norton NRV588 I found fairly interesting (588cc twin wankel rotary, 170bhp @ 11,000rpm, 130kg dry)

That's a fairly serious power to weight ratio there...

And IOM 2009

Did not expect to see another new rotary in new bike again. Well spotted.

There goes Jantars Signature (about pistons and wheels)

170hp from a 600cc? Your taking the mick son.

Read up on rotaries mate. It isn't uncommon to see RX7's (1300cc twin rotor) putting out over 1000hp on drag strips in Japan. Given there is forced induction involved in this case, but you see my point.

Just to illustrate to the non-beleivers where this thing gets its 130kg dry weight from. And what is up with these crazy throttle bodies?

Not sure maybe to get as cool air as possible? Looks almost like a water spray or something? Cant be fuel injectors above it. I remember reading Previous Norton Rotaries gave off a lot of engine/exhaust heat as well as reduced engine braking on overun? I think a 600cc rotary is the equivelant in actual displacement as a four stroke 1000cc - bit like 2 stroke VS 4 stroke.

could be water injection. Or alcohol injection

Think you'll find they're variable length jobbies

Theres definately some sort of jet a couple of inches above the top of the throttle body- is that for fuel??

They be injectors...of the fuel variety

Ah ok, they seemed a looong way of the bodies - but then I've never seen variable tracts before.

So have the ol' burning ball furnace problems been sorted?

Why?
It's a fairly standard shock position.

By the look of the video they haven't, it was blowing smoke like a 2 stroke.

I thought that was standard with rotards - only way to lubricate the rotor tips'n'seals?

I believe it is, but they managed to reduce it with RX8's somehow, otherwise they would have failed emissions standards. Though that could have been done via a very restrictive exhaust filtering system (i'm just guessing here).
