View Full Version : I want to gauge interest to this possible proposal

Hi All,
I have a 1988/89 Kawasaki ZX4 / ZXR400 that may get to see very little use this year.
What I am proposing is to 'sponsor', to a degree, an up and coming rider with a ride in the VMCC winter series.
Costs they will need to meet are entry fees, a set of tyres, fuel and possibly brake pads for the season as well as any breakages (need to figure details here). Basically running costs.
The bike will come with tyre warmers, transponder etc.
I have a couple of people in mind but there MUST be others out there that could be worthy of getting a ride in F3 or post classics. The bike is easily capable of 1:20's around Manfeild, probably a lot better with a decent rider.
If you know of anyone wanting a deal like this get them to drop me an email with relevant details (experience, age, amount of bribe to accept them LOL) etc to wagener at inspire.net.nz
It's a well sorted and reliable bike.
I am a bit sad that I will not get to play on it much - money issues etc, so this is my next best option.:weep:
Get those bribes coming in and we will see what we can do for some young talent.:2thumbsup
Cheers
Warren Wagener.

koba... Im gonna direct him to this thread tonight. He has now done 2 seasons of streetstock (came 2nd overall last year VMCC) and is very keen to get into F3 but his NC21 needs alot of work. That and I would like to see him "dissapear" from streetstock this year...

Talking like that won't get you a ride!
you should be telling them about your stopping and going abilities!
How much would a good highside cost to fix on this bike?

Cost to repair. Well that depends on what you break. Paint job wasn't cheap. I have got most spares for it so we could deal on that one if it happens. I have to say I will be looking for skills not crashers.

I would take it (if you offered it) but you wont, lol
I've only done 2 trackdays.... no crashes on the track but still not enough track experiance to take somebody elses baby racing.

Ironically, that photo that Avalon got of him doing his "Running Man" impression through the air at Taupo was the only crash he has ever had too. Still managed to walk away with the third place trophy though...
Still though, fairs fair and from the looks of it there are a few people that would be just as keen. So he will send an email through like everyone else.
This is really awesome of you Warren. Good onya! :niceone:

One would assume that he is looking for an outgoing, confident person to fill this positions. Shooting yourself down isn't a good start, and it would probably help your cause if you followed his request i.e send him an email.

Well father.. You know the deal with fibreglass ill do the work if the consumables a supplied and it that is a box of beers lol.
But can only do this if im still in town so its a big IF but hey you have me till July at this stage... So no crashing after then and you wount have a problem.
Depending on the what my outcome is over the next few weeks I may also be albe to provide parts spares and may even throw you a set of rims to make life easier during the winter. Will let you know more closer to the time.
Cheers Jono

Well it looks like we have 4 serious contenders so far. Ahh it makes life hard trying to decide who will get the ride.....
Should be making a decision after the weekend maybe by Wednesday if all goes well.
Thanks to all those that have offered bits to assist.
We WILL take you up on that!!!
:headbang:
Keep looking to get the latest news on who's got the ride.
P.S I am still open to bribes by the way

This is 1 thing i really like about riders who can no longer race willing to hand their bike over to someone who has the money and ability to keep the bike on the track. Good on you Warren for doing so and i would like to give you my 2cents worth at that is also putting Malcolm forward for the ride if he is willing to come to the party on what is required from he to make it all happen.
Malcolm did extremely well in the Streestock class last year and he has the potential if given the opportunity to go futher in the road racing scene on a bigger cc bike.
Im sure that whoever you choose will appreciate what you are doing and also appreciate having the opportunity to race in the F3 class for 2009.
