Recently acquired a new toy and would like to adjust the rear preload. Looks like I need a C spanner but how the hell do I get in to adjust the thing? Little book just says take it to your dealer but there has to be an easier way especially if I want to play with it a little. Help please?

Idont think that there is a bike around that will let you get a decent swing at its preload rings
Put the C spanner back in its pouch and lift the bike so that it is hanging with no weight on its suspension.
tap the rings with a large blunt screwdriver to unlock them then chase the bottom one around to raise or lower by about 5mm then have a quick test ride.
Dont bother locking it up just yet- just have a play with all the weight off the rear and see what effect it has then lock it up when you are happy with the results.

I havent gone into the science of static sag and preload. - If you want to get that techo you can do a search and read up on it .

But this should stop your arse dragging on the ground for starters.:msn-wink:

yip as the other chap said, my self, i cut the end off a large screwdriver, and quietly tap the lock ring lose and work the other ring around,
it works ok.
