After an apparently aborted effort to obtain three-cylinder engines from Triumph, Aprilia is developing triples itself. According to sources in Europe, Aprilia is developing three-cylinders of varying capacities, perhaps including a 600, a 750 and a 1000. Although Laverda (owned by Aprilia), with its three-cylinder history, would be the likely recipient of at least one of these engines, expect Aprilia to offer its own three-cylinder models for sale. The first triple from either brand shouldn't be expected before the 2005 model year.
