First thing, if anyone is thinking of riding Karapoti tomorrow, think again, that mountain bike race is on so I think they ban all motorbikes anyway, not that it would be much fun with hundreds of mountain bikers up there.

Second thing, my nephew managed to snap his bars couple of weeks ago, was supposed to be showing me how to get up a slippery hill, didn't do a very good job if it. So does anyone know where the best ( meaning cheapest ) place is to get some Renthal Fat Bars from, for a 08 RM250.

Cheers all !!

I forgot the Karapoti Classic is on tomorrow!
That must have been entertaining seeing your nephew snap his bars (sounds painful too..). Hope you can get hold of some new bars!
Whats it like up Karapoti? I have yet to venture up there

Yeah was entertaining, no injuries, his pride was hurt the most

Karapoti is wicked to ride, acres and acres of tracks, river crossings, just about everything you could want, nice easy tracks for novices like myself, but gnarly side tracks as well, best of all...its free !!! Gets bloody slippery in the wet, has caught me out several times, a lots of hardpacked clay.

why do they have to be renthals? any fat bars will fit. I use Sunline bars which are $100 or so cheaper, and better in my opinion as they have anti-vibe which suprisingly is actually noticable. Theyr bloody strong as well, had some pretty nasty crashes with em

this seller has ZETA fat bars but does not have them listed today. I got my last ones off him for $66! they are just as good as the flash Magura ones on my KTM.

You can venture into the area from two way's . One is north of Upper Hutt, through brown owl and along the Akatarawa road, the other from the Kapiti coast side, just before the turnoff to Raumati South (maungatuk's)... a few of us know the place real well (kezzafish etc) and would be happy to act as tour guides to noobi's there. We virtually live there ..

You still looking for a 450 of some sort Blair? the offer still stands (to have a blat on mine), probably will be having a go at the 90 minute x-country race sunday on haywards hill between the Hutt valley and Whitby (Judds property - opposite Brittons house removals). Should come along for a nose... :niceone:

Cheers for the offer mate but honestly a 450 would be a waste of power on me, half the time I don't use all the grunt of the DRZ. I've decided to stick a four stroke though and as I don't do mx or need a mx bike I'm eyeing up a WRF250, bit less power but should make up for it with better handling. I've found a 2006 model for $5000.00 in pretty good condition, then thought that once I've sold the DRZ ( keep an eyeout for it on trademe soon if anyones looking for a DRZ ) I'll upgrade the exhaust etc and get a bit more power from it.

Yeah I asked him myself why they have to be Renthal's and he couldn't really give me an explanation, but being a motorbike mad 16 yr old boy ( him, not me ), he said its Renthal or nothing.
