And what is with the current thing about fish threads? Are fish the new goats or what?

It seems that a surprising number of bikers also keep fish as a hobby. Is this because we need a calming, gentle hobby to balance out our thrill-seeking biker side?

Anyway, I would love to hear about your tanks (the water-filled kind, not the kind you fill with petrol).

Also I have some spare plants (ambulia and hygrophilla mainly) so if anyone wants some freebies in Auckland just let me know and you can pick them up. On condition you arrive on a bike. :scooter:

Here's a pic of my tank that I just snapped - sorry about all the reflections and that great big ugly heater. I just ripped out all the ambulia that was growing in front of the heater. I think I'll have to replant some because I forgot how imposing it was.

My fish:
7 gold barbs (Puntius sachsi)
6 cherry barbs (Puntius titteya)
5 clown loaches (Chromobotia macracanthus)
4 cardinal tetras (Paracheirodon axelrodi)
3 siamese algae eaters (Crossocheilus siamensis)
2 bristlenose catfish (Ancistrus sp.)

I used to keep fish... My pride and joy was a tank with a dozen Pseudotropheus Zebra (african cichlids) in it....
...it seemed my daughter liked the tank too...she liked it so much she fed the fish peanut butter sandwiches...whilst I was away...needless the fish did not like it much at all...

I came back to a tank that stunk, and dead fish!!!

Fish are cool - sooo trippy and relaxing

I got a 400litre tank with (excuse spelling - can't be arsed looking it up)

1 angelfish
1 plecostamus
5 pristellas
5 widow tetras
2 silver flying fish (I think that's what they are called - from Skunk & Skunk control)
1 Bolivian Butterfly ram

Heh. It was only when I started listing them that I realised I had those numbers. I had a lot more cardinal tetras until recently. I had... erm... an unfortunate incident with the rest.

And I may in fact have 2,936 cherry barbs - I have some outside and I hope they are spawning. :woohoo:

Oooh lovely! That's a fantastic size for a tank and very nicely stocked. Bolivian rams are some of my favourite fish. Got any pics?

My ram is very very shy but I did get one of his predecessor in my first tank.

My pride and joy tank isn't looking too flash at the mo so won't put a pic up of it until I have done this weekends jobs on it :o

Fish tanks - Santa got my 6 year son a tank, filter etc for Xmas - all is going well, even if I have a bit of work to keep it all sweet - water changes, filter cleans, water additives etc. Hes saving up for a pirate ship or the bottom of the tank :soon:
