Not the Sheep, or the Possums barring teeth....
The Crocs.....
I got very close to them in Florida, stipidly close to take Photos of one of these Monsters. I did not really realise how fast they can move.....
Talk about a change of undies in the middle of the Everglades....:stupid:
Still, the photo was worth it and it has pride and place now on the wall and I tell everyone it is my Ex Mother in Law....

Taking a pretty good bike and spending big $'ers on getting it to the perfect machine (for your personal needs) would be awsome to do.

I did not mean to say spending big$ was the only option, but a nice one to have.
And certainly some big $'ers have been spent on that 660z.
Forks, rear shock, custom built rear wheel.... ca-ching-ching!
Putting that sort of money on top of the cost of a Tenere, sure makes me feel the 690 was not too expensive. But the tenere seat looks very comfortable, that might be worth the money/effort.

While we are talking ducati's, I could see one of those Hypermotard 796's becoming a pretty nice adventure bike. 21inch front, 18 rear, longer travel rear linkage, repalce the front forks and put an off road style fender on the front, woooooot!
Anyone got about $20k they want to give me to see if this works?

"We have the exceptional opportunity to present one of the most performing desert bikes built by the Yamaha race department: A XTZ 850 R Full Factory raced by Stéphane Peterhansel in 1992 and 93.
This machine was restored and overhauled by the Yamaha Motor France racing department in 2009 and is in perfect running order.
The bike is in its configuration of 1992. This is a works type OW D 8.
Stéphane Peterhansel used for the victories in 1992 and 93."

have a crack at a track day with some slicks, that would give a pretty good indication of how she'll front up, would be quite a thrill draging the pegs on the BIG:2guns:

Won't be doing the DB this time but you know there's a bed here on the way down or back up. The girls'll make sure there'll be plenty of ponies & soft toys to keep you company. Did you want the fairy princess canopy on the bed again?

What ya do is you get someone to hold the bike at its balance point while you get ready with the camera. When you say go the guy holding the bike runs out of shot and you take the picture before the bike falls over. if you do it well the holding guy can get back and catch it before it falls. its a great way to damage your bike without actually riding it.
Maybe we should have a best "standing up by itself" photo contest.:first:

FFS it's a cool bike, regardlessIndeed, I was merely addressing the technical issues in producing the image.
ALL good photos you see are tweaked in some manner, and that's not a bad thing. Wet film photographers use lots of tricks while developing & printing to produce a good result (and of course, before that stage). Digital photographers are no different in that regard.
Having watched BD work, it is amazing how a few clicks here and there can transform the raw image from good to great, or in the case of my photos, from crap to merely acceptable. Of course, there's a lot of skill in knowing what & how to do this.

Not bike related but cool anyway.
Some quite amazing statistics.
You don't have to be a drag racing fan to appreciate these statistics.
Some Interesting Top Fuel Dragster Facts:
-One dragster's 500-inch Hemi makes more horsepower then the first 8 rows at Daytona.
-Under full throttle, a dragster engine consumes 1 ½ gallons of nitro per second, the same rate of fuel consumption as a fully loaded 747, but with 4 times the energy density.
-The supercharger takes more power to drive then a stock hemi makes.
-With nearly 3000 CFM of air being rammed in by the supercharger on overdrive, the fuel mixture is compressed into nearly-solid form before ignition.
-Cylinders run on the verge of hydraulic lock.
-Dual magnetos apply 44 amps to each spark plug.
This is the output of an arc welder in each cylinder.
-At stoichiometric (exact) 1.7:1 air/fuel mixture (for nitro), the flame front of nitro methane measures 7050 degrees F.
-Nitro methane burns yellow. The spectacular white flame seen above the exhaust stacks at night is raw burning hydrogen, dissociated from
atmospheric water vapour by the searing exhaust gases.
-Spark plug electrodes are totally consumed during a pass. After ½ way, the engine is dieseling from compression plus the glow of exhaust valves at 1400 degrees F.
-The engine can only be shut down by cutting off its fuel flow.
-If spark momentarily fails early in the run, unburned nitro builds up in those cylinders and then explodes with a force that can blow cylinder heads off the block in pieces or blow the block in half.
-Dragsters twist the crank (torsionally) so far (20 degrees in the big end of the crank) that sometimes cam lobes are ground offset from front to rear to re-phase the valve timing somewhere closer to synchronisation with the pistons.
-To exceed 300mph in 4.5 seconds dragsters must accelerate at an average of over 4G's. But in reaching 200 mph well before ½ track, launch acceleration is closer to 8G's.
-If all the equipment is paid off, the crew worked for free, and for once NOTHING BLOWS UP, each run costs $1000.00 per second.
-Dragsters reach over 300 miles per hour before you have read this sentence.
-Top Fuel Engines ONLY turns 540 revolutions from light to light!
-The redline is actually quite high at 9500rpm.
-To give you an idea of this acceleration, the current TF dragster elapsed time record is 4.477 seconds for the quarter mile.
-This means that you could be coming across the starting line in your average Lingenfelter powered "twin-turbo" Corvette at 200 mph (on a FLYING START) and the dragster would BEAT you to the finish line FROM A DEAD STOP in a Quarter mile distance!

If the Corvette was doing the flying 1/4 starting at 200mph the top fuel dragster would still win
200mph = 200/3600 miles per SECOND x 4.477 second top fuel record = 0.248 m = less than a 1/4 mile

If the Corvette was doing the flying 1/4 starting at 200mph the top fuel dragster would still win
200mph = 200/3600 miles per SECOND x 4.477 second top fuel record = 0.248 m = less than a 1/4 mile
Crikey!
Man that's impressive!!
The maths that is.
Just heard of a condition called calculexia or something where you aren't able to calculate things. I reckon I've got a case of that.

I don't see the downside.

Electric dremel, air dremel and a die-grinder as well.
I would suggest the die-grinder. It's the fastest, noisiest and most spectacular...

adjective
Definition:
1. arousing desire: arousing or intended to arouse sexual desire
2. aroused: sexually aroused

WW - fuel level stripes are very cool. I'd not be using Nordies die grinder though!!!I was going to be discreet, and run the strip down the inside of the tank... even got it sussed where, in differing spots like they've done, as there is no one line that's visible all the way since the radiators are in the middle.
Now it seems I'll have to do it on the outside for that factory Rallye replica bling bling look! :D
