Right guys n gals, some help is needed here i as am trying to find the road that runs through the middle of the Pureora forest, but cant locate it on any maps i have or on google. I know that some of the riders on here have travelled this route.
Where does it start and end

Go out past Bennydale on hwy30, and past Tiroa.
Turn into the Pureora HQ on Maraeroa Rd.
They will direct you onto "Link Rd". It can get a bit confusing, as there are tracks crossing and close by, but if you stay on the main track you should be right.
It brings you out onto Kakaho Rd, then hwy 32 just nth of Whangamata Rd, which leads you into Taupo.:msn-wink:

Wot Tri-boy said, stop at the forest HQ and there is a sign / map of the route through, it's really easy to follow and there is only one turning that has the potential to get you lost.
I was surprised to see how easy it was, I had been expecting some sort of hard core track but it's a straightforward logging road.
Neat ride tho and some great outlooks.

That be the ghost of lost scramblers wandering aimlessly through the trees, that put a shiver up your spine.

There's also a great forestry link road in Pureora, secret squirrel stuff, which takes you thru to Waimiha, onto Ongarue Stream Rd to be exact. I've been thru a few years ago, I know the cocky at the end of the road who gave me a key for the locked forestry gate. We had our family farm back there until the mid 80's.
Waimiha is a great area for MX and enduro rides held a couple of times a year, mostly around the PiroPiro Flats camping area. Gives you another option for exiting, head back thru Ongarue towards Taumarunui.

I have been browsing through a 4WD track guidebook which shows the 'Ketemaringi Track' in the Pureora Forest.
It starts from the end Kokomiko Road (off the Ongarue Stream Road) and finishes on the Okauaka Road.
The guide describes it as 'Grade 2 - Easy off-road, some mud, possible scratching, all terrain tyres, intermediate drivers'
We're planning to go next weekend and have a look at it. Has anyone done this recently and knows what it's like?
