Doesn't even look like it's been dropped, the tank is still mint. Yup, bargain alright.

Well it did take me back to the 90's when they used to import two halves of different cars welded together:stupid:

What goes wrong with these??Gearbox bearing behind the clutch needs to be upgraded from ball to roller. $100 if you do it yourself. That's about it.
'03s were considered the ultimate, came standard with the single disc 43mm front end, high guard, bearing upgrade per above and high-flow head. But all years are worthwhile. The 2000s with 50mm Extreme forks are the best front-ends. Earlier bikes had 28L tanks, later ones 25.5L. Earlier ones had a better rallye computer. Later ones vibrate less.
Just noticed the pillion pegs are absent.

Rang up about it and it was already sold.
Aparently previous owner had run it dry of oil, dealer just completed full engine re-build.

It'd be pretty hard to run the oil dry without noticing a hideous pool of oil somewhere, my bet is he'd changed the oil and not charged the frame oil system properly, which leads to oil starvation pretty quickly. Bummer.
His loss, someone else's gain.

Aparently previous owner had run it dry of oil, dealer just completed full engine re-build.That's another difference, later models have an oil sight glass rather than a dipstick, which helps to avoid such oopses.
Geez you'd be pissed if they rebuilt it and didn't upgrade the gearbox bearing, wouldn't you?? :weep:

you'd want to know what 'full rebuild' meant
just obviously rooted bearings or what?
particularly if they traded it in in rooted condition there is little incentive for them to do more than just 'get it running' again.

Just noticed the pillion pegs are absent.
I was interested in this. I called and the dealer said yes the pegs were missing and a few other things.
He called the owner and he said he was keeping them all to sell on Trade me. Could you believe that?
1. The bike was missing bits and
2. The dealership traded it and didn't ask for the bits back?
3. He has the nerve to sell the bits seperately?
Man, what a cheek.....
I wonder......
Oh, another thing, he let the oil run low and it cost over $4000 for a new engine rebuild, they sent me the details of the overhaul. I think the bike has been sold, so someone did get a good buy, new engine an all.....

Naa, it seems they went the full monty on the beast, or someone did....I got the receipts. Looks like we will see another 640-A around the traps in the near future...
Damn, it was a good buy $6K should have got it....
