View Full Version : NW motorway - idiot on an R1
jrandom
2nd March 2005, 18:00
So I'm bimbling along with the traffic on my way home this evening, doing about 90. This brain-dead oxygen thief cuts up the left-hand side of me in my lane at about 160, only a meter or so away, nearly bloody wet myself, and proceeds to Ghost Rider his way into the distance through the (free-flowing!) motorway traffic.
About 3km later, ho ho ho, what do we have here, a very grumpy-looking rider slumped on the road shoulder beside his R1 with a white BMW and bike copper standing over him.
If you're out there reading this, Idiot R1 Rider, I just gotta say... GOOD BLOODY JOB. I hope you lose your licence, because you don't deserve one.
Moron.

Yeah, cos cagers can't tell the difference between an R1 and a decent bike. :devil2: (that's just for R1AaronKDX and to make 800 posts)
Great ride that on Sunday - no pricks in our group

must be something with yamaha's and the north western motorway , i had a wally on a R6 take me on the inside on my lane about a week ago ,then cut up a few cars before i caught up with him at the lights at the end of the motorway and made a few hand gestures to tell him what i thought of him ,,,though i am sure there are plenty of nice yamaha pilots out there! :)

FKN R1's to dam fast for the road, should only be used on race tracks, ban them i say.
..................i must admit tho im very guilty of being a cunt, so it may not be the bikes fault. was he on the back wheel?? thats what i do when i pass slow bikes on the left:devil2:

Luckily he was stopped by a copper, not one of the laws of physics ie hitting a large solid vehicle and smearing his internals on it

He was pulled over just as the free-flowing traffic ran into the stopped traffic, too.
Perhaps he lacked the cojones to do a runner through the slow stuff.
And no, he wasn't on the back wheel. He looked like his skills extended to wrist-twisting (funny, that) and not much else.
Compared to this guy, Frosty is the very model of a sedate, mature road user.

Can't just be a yamaha thing, I don't lane split/filter often and when I do it's at a sensible speed, not insane.

What colour was it? Not multi hued purple, was it?
On another thread, anyone know anything about what looked like a CBR250 sitting next to the barrier, backwards, with people milling about, at about 9 this morning, around the Bond St overbridge ?
Edit - seen Dr Bobs thread - yep same scene.

Man - One sunday near Port Waikato I was chock-a-block-full of the angry pills on a group ride and overtook a daytona on the left hand side - once - and i've been kicking myself for it ever since - i appologised to the guy I went under 4 times already and still think i was a knob for doing it.
If someone did it to me and was unrepentant - I'd bounce him - hard.
What a cock.

That can't of been the same R1 as monday night - I passed him in the Pajero and he was well behind, filtering but very slowly, then jrandom came through at a reasonable pace and the R1 didn't go past me until I was almost at the Lincoln rd offramp - that was a timid R1 filterer. That jrandom was bloody lucky I was adjusting the radio and texting at the same time, otherwise he woulda found a Pajero in the way...

Troof is stranger than fiction...
It wasn't an R1, it was an R6.
I know that because I just spent 10 minutes talking to him up by the Subway on Lincoln Road.
Saw the bike, saw the guy, thought "that's gotta be him", walked over and asked, yup, it was him.
He's being done for dangerous driving (summons is in the mail) and riding without a licence (surprise, surprise).
He had to leave the bike beside the motorway and walk home. Came back later to pick it up, and of course he's back on it now, riding around.
So we had a little chat.
Stay tuned. He's promised to log on to KB and take his medicine.

Clearly a statement like that, denotes a delusional rider. I'm not one to use hyperbole's, but as I've said a bazillion times: It's a piece of art, with wheels :wari:
I can confirm though, it wasn't me. Or was it?

On the subject of motorway ettiquette, if the traffic is your typical NW run, i.e. bloody slow, would it be illegal to pull right to the left of the left lane and almost stop while pointing at the dude being ticketed and laugh your ass off so he can hear ya, or just bad (or good) form?

I did that when I rode past him last night.
I was sure the cop would understand...
I can't be *too* horrible about it now, though, because he will probably read this thread. So, being a lovely sensitive chap, I will modulate my vitriol accordingly.

TOO FUNNY - I love stories like that.
Bullet proof + fast bike - licence +cop = GOTCHA
oooo I love it - that JR, best laugh I've had in a long time. Tell him to get it out on the track (after he's got his licence). He's either got the balls or the stupidity to go fast, hopefully he has the skills too.
Who knows - he might be another Aaron Slight but he'll need to live to see that day first... (not to mention letting the rest of us survive too. One of my pet peeves with people doing stupid things is... what'd Bush call it... "collateral damage")
JR - how old was this guy do you reckon? Is he a bit of a f'wit, arrogant or just naive? Hopefully the latter so we can talk some sense into him. Between the horrors of Frosty's thread (kid who died in Takapuna) and those two kids ratting up and down at some horrendouns pace in another thread - I'm buggered if I want to see this guy become a bug mark on the back of some car or truck that happeneds to be changing lanes...
f'wit or not - he don't deserve to die... and no-one else does either...

Just a punk kid. Early/mid 20s. He didn't come across as an arrogant f'wit in person. Reminds me of a few on here, minus some years experience. There might be hope for him yet.

Cheers. It'd be good to get him intro'd to a few bods on here - who knows we might get to like him. Track day would be good but... don;t you need a licence to go out on the track?
After that little episdoe he'll be bloody lucky to have one this side of 2006.

Mebbe a Yamaha thing on the NWern, but it seems to be Sazoox on the others.
There used to be a guy on a GSXRsummat (either a 750 or 1100 - couldn't tell as he was going too fast) that used to lanesplit and weave all over the place over the Harbour Bridge, regardless of how fast the traffic was going. AND the eedjit never wore proper gear, just jeans and sneakers.
Pretty dumb, because there are HP-monitored cameras on the bridge, and he used to ride like a cock pretty consisitently.
Wonder where he is now? :spudwhat:
Dead?
Locked up?

Funny thing was, just prior to these events, he had a couple on a red Duc (900SS, I think - I've seen them around previously, same guys, same bike) pulled over, receiving a good old talking-to. As I came up towards them, I saw him stop talking, sprint away, jump on his BMW and fang off down the road shoulder.
R6 Boy must have just gone past...
I wonder if they got off their ticket because of it. Hope so. :2thumbsup

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for R6s in the New Members section.
We've all done stupid shit. According to some they still do.
I recall (young and very inexperienced) popping a wheelie off the line when the lights changed - two-up on my TS125 road/trail - because I wanted to speed off the line to "impress" a stranger on a bigger bike who was stopped across from me.
When we got home the mate of mine who was on the back at the time asked if it was the first time I'd pulled a wheelie two-up. When I admitted it was the first time I'd pulled a wheelie PERIOD, he clipped me on the back of the head for being such a forquit.
Richly deserved, too.

Good point, I'd say 99.999 percent of motorcyclists have put themselves, and others on the road at risk at some time. I'm sure most on this forum certainly have.

Well Ive been sorta working out a way to filter to and from work thats all but as fast as blasting through 20km/h traffic at 100km/h.
Ive (re) learnt to read the traffic flows. Just simply being in the right place on the motorway means im rarely doing less than 80km/h in the rush hour traffic. For some reason -dunno why -one of the three lanes is always flowing faster than the others -and its always the same -go figure
