Hey
Seeing as there are so many 250R owners around at the moment, I thought I would share my new Monster Energy decals and other small mods.
Install time for the decals was about 4 hours. I made sure I wasn't in a rush and I prepped the plastics with prepsol before hand. I had the set ordered through Filco Farm and Sport Nelson, who told me they would cost $75 but charged me $100 once they arrived.
I didn't apply the entire set as I didn't want to over do it, and I plan on grabbing a sheet of plain black that I can play around with. But enough talking, here's some pics.

Some smaller sponsor decals on the top of the seat-cowl and on the front fender cannot be seen.
Ever since I got the bike I have been very interested in picking up a slip-on exhaust, but with the current exchange rate I was looking at $1000, which just isn't worth it.
So i got out the good old drill and bored out the stock exhaust a bit, then had a Dynojet kit installed which cost me $500 including installation. The bike now sounds A LOT better, and the Dynojet kit has it running far smoother.
here's a pic of the holes:

Not a fan of the stickers at all mate. Why the hell did you just drill holes in your exhaust? That's quite stupid.

Because with the jet kit in I get the sound of a slipon for half price.

I know, and frankly I think it's stupid also, but meh. Most other people wouldn't know so I don't mind.

Because obviously I think the stickers look good, and the fact that the model number displayed is incorrect does not mean I'm not going to put them on.
Can we not start an argument? please?

And who needs an exhaust? Just take the entire thing off and just richen her up a bit :P

I was really keen on a slip on but Filco (the only Kawa dealer in Nelson) quoted $1000. For the slip on you say? yes.
Frankly I'm planning on keeping the bike for a long time as Uni is getting close and I can't afford an upgrade.

People gave you a hard time, because you are just ricing it up. It's a bit like getting a toyota corolla and putting race stripes on it. Sorry. Or buying a Honda Civic Si 1989 and putting type R stickers on it. Guaranteed to get you bagged here. Not as bad as neons though haha.
In all honesty, it's a 1980's commuter with fancy plastic, and now some monster stickers. It is a better bike than the Hyo's but is just so far behind the early 90's jappas. Not your fault at all, you're just doing the best you can with what's available, and you're taking the right route of not wasting time and money on performance mods for this model.
Still a very trusty steed, and looks very nice too. I like them, I just don't like pretenders.

Because then it wouldn't be green with removable black decals?

Fair post, but all in all I didn't get the decals to make myself look like Mr MotoGP. I just thought the fairing looked a little bland and ordering in an official Kawasaki decal set seemed like the best option. I had no idea I was getting the "ZXRR" kit but when It arrived I took a look at and decided I liked the look.
It was hard to find much info or pics of the set online so I gathered it would be helpful to show anyone interested how it turned out.
If you guys don't like it then fine, you can say what you like. But when your just accusing me of trying to make my bike look like a racer when you have no clue of my intentions or your just posting to take the piss then all your doing is being a prick, and I don't want to hear it.
Thanks for your contribution.

Cry more, I'm not going to lie and say it looks good.
I'm also not going to not say anything.
You're just pissed you spent all this money on such worthless upgrades.
I bought an entire replacement engine, carbs, full exhaust etc for my bike for $900
You got some stickers, a rejet and some holes drilled in your exhaust. Fucking CLAP!

Could that be because your bike is a fucking 80's GPX? If i wanted a replacement engine I think it would cost a little fucking more than $900, so don't imply that we are in a similar spending bracket on our bikes you idiot.
I don't care that in your in a bad mood. That doesn't excuse you from being a dick.

Monster sticker looks quie nice, and some black stickers over the green would help its appearance. Make sure anything else you do won't affect the paintwork if it becomes necessary to take them off for resale or whatever.
Don't like the ZXR sticker at all though, be proud of what you have, don't try to make it something else. That's like me chucking a 500 sticker on my RG. People who know both bikes will take the piss, and people who don't wouldn't appreciate it any more if it was a 500.
And I think you just destroyed your resale value by playing with the exhaust.
I think other than the aforementioned, you could potentially have quite a unique little ninja on your hands. Fuck knows we need a different ninja out there. Key thing is to make sure everything you do can be undone.

I am thinking about grabbing a muffler when the exchange rate sharpens up a bit. And about pulling off the ZXRR stickers and replacing them with a same shaped plain black decal, because I totally agree with you.
And yes post above ^^ I am aware that I can grab parts from other dealers, but I think I'm going to wait until the exchange rate is more favorable as aforementioned.
Cheers for the input guys.
Good for you mono. I think it looks ok and if you are happy with what you have done then go for it. I have a Shoei Kagayama. Do I think I am like him - not a chance. I bought it because I like the look. That doesn't make me an imposter.
Heaven help those who have a CBR1000 with Repsol stickers, or worse, an R1 with Fiat stickers. Since when does having a cage name on the side make it cool. If it wasn't for Rossi everyone would laugh. Unless there is a difference to the standard machine it doesn't make any difference whether the manufacturer has added a few stickers and doing it yourself.

Slyer, you're a tool. My bike's a heap of crap but nobody gives me any heat for it because it's just one of those things about `motorcycling' (as far as you can refer to it generally and not sound naïve) that it's particularly bad form to insult somebody else's bike. It's like saying their girlfriend is fat and ugly. Just plain rude. If you don't think it looks great, then why tell him in such a way?
Personally I think anything with fairings on is overdressed :D I'd like to see a version of the 250R done up like a baby ER6N. That would be a fantastic bike.
Hasn't anyone here ever seen a debaffled can before? I don't think it'll make one lick of difference to resale value given the target market for this kind of bike. Sensible too to get it re-jetted too when doing the debaffle.
Stock-standard bikes are bland and boring. Maybe if it's a classic but even then I've got my doubts and those Concours examples are a very sad state of affairs. Race-rep style decals may not be everybody's cup of tea but you should be applauded for taking steps to make the bike suit you a little better.

sam, stop being such a hater. Dont worry mate I think it looks awesome, good on ya for customising it and dont let people give you shit about it as a part of biking is the look of your motorcycle. Same reason people do custom paint jobs etc.
Sam, just stick to getting your shit bucket of a gpx running sweet and looking good before bagging on others. Im not hating on you but its not nice when a bike that you love and out much effort into get bagged by someone who rides a bike that looks like it was shat out of a constipated elephant. No offense.
I like the mosnter energy decals all you have to do is paint the bike black put the decals on and make the seat green.

1stly the stickers look really cool but i recon you need to get a better pipe a cus it just makes the sticker's look just a bit to tacky and besides with the bike looking good you now need to make it sound grate. good on you for doing them a really personalizes the bike and as i said looks really cool keep up the good work

Personally the stickers look cool. Man some other bikes out there more than overdo stickers for no reason at all.
I have to agree tho, ZXR? The only people that are going to know the difference are probably those actually looking at the bike for more than a glace, ie: bike geeks! Most Kawasaki owners can tell the difference.
Still I like the new EX250, looks great

yeh that would have been the deal maker for me, was lookin at EX250 and hyobag and had either one been EFI I would have got one. No regrets on my FZR tho.
Anyone know if you can get an EFI kit for EX250, the uk models are injected from memory?

Onya for doinga bit of customisation to your ride, is always good to stand out from the crowd.
Exhausts are cheap enough, i can get a full exhuast kit for $1100-$1200 and a slip on for $600-$800. Or get one custom made for you though i dont know where yet.
I have not started any mods to mine yet but im planning on putting in a full exhaust, re-jet and full tune, airbox. Im not expecting much of a power gain but it should even out the dyno charts at least making the bike smoother and feel more fun.

For some people it's not "wasting money" people might be keeping their 250's for quite some time so making it as fun as possible can be much cheaper than buying a bigger bike.
Personally, the next bike i get I'll be keeping for 3 years or so cos I'l be doing my pilots licence full time (finally!!) next year and I simply wont be able to afford a bigger bike
