Well, today was a day that stood out among the many days I've had as a biker.

0700hrs Up and about, no need to polish Big Ol'Hornet for the Westpac ride since I had done already on Friday with GXSR Trace (she brung her pride and joy to be blinged and preened at the house of gijoe1313).

Met up with Donor, Blue Thunder and a chap who resides on KB, but rarely posts. Was waiting for Maverick, but typical of the lad - he had his facts wrong and thought the meet up time was for 0830hrs :slap:

Rode over to the Westpac meet up point and did the usual "gimme a steenk'n badge!" routine with the lovely lasses there. Bike pr0n and perve fest as per norm

Missed the old school bikes, wasn't as many of them this year! (and yes, I was looking out for lil'ol'hornets and all! :innocent:) Nice ride out to the usual meet n'greet stop. Met up with more peeps I knew and once again did the bike perve and drool

Saw the chopper come in and land, nattered some more, missed out on the prize draw, but at least one of my mates scored big time! Backpack filled with goodies! :niceone:

On the way back home, tagged along with Captain Banzai and his mate on an Aquila and we took the long way home! Via St Heliers GP, Whitford and Maraetai.

I took my leave and pootled over to do some DIY Tool time on a friend's home and then took her pillion and for some lessons on the lil'ol'hornet. Well she was doing alright until a small drop at the roundabout! :pinch: Never mind, lil'ol'hornets are built tough and while waiting for it to settle down (petrol flooding), a wee young mite with a dog bigger than him comes crying down the road.

Long story short, he got lost walking to his auntie's house and while waiting for the lil'ol'hornet to come right - I found out some details from the young lad and got him to ring his mum. Found out where he was meant to go and I personally dropped him off there. Had the biggest freaking smile when he was out and about the block with his cousins and waved his hand off when we were riding around practising!

Well, several laps clock and counter wise and that was enough for a day. Even got some spannering in when I had to jemmy the bent gear lever back! Just got back from dinner and reflecting on today's events.

I love it when it all comes together and bikes are involved! :woohoo:

So to encapsulate the day ...

1. Supported Westpac Chopper Trust.
2. Met up with people I haven't seen in an age and had a great natter.
3. One of my mates scored free bike stuff.
4. I perved over bikes.
5. I had a ride with mates out on some lovely traffic free roads.
6. Tutored a dolly bird with lil'ol'hornet
7. Spannered on lil'ol'hornet with Mr Block and Mr Mallet.
8. Helped a wee'un get his way back home.
9. Rode in the rain for some yum din dins (om nom nom).
10. Reading KB and making a post about biking shizzle.

Peace out compadres and long may you ride those roads to freedom!

its bit pity missed the Westpac ride this morning,(even now I can only pillion on the back.):crybaby:
have my learner lenience not a month and second time on the road but my first time drop on the grand. :o I was coming to a roundabout ready to roll the bike turning left, suddenly saw a car coming, brake, but my bike lean left then I was on the grant. :dodge:
Well Mr. gijoe1313 told me that he did that many times when he just started riding, so professional rider said so must be the first step to the success. :headbang:
but even Mr. gijoe1313 can be considered as a quiet big muscular guy me definitely not little dolly girl! :devil2:

:slap: I tried to omit any names to protect the usual innocents! I am far too long gone to be considered for mercy so I consider all my acts as "par for the course"

Next time greentea, I shall let you lift it! :devil2:

We ride for those who can't, stuck at work, bereft of their machine and above all, we ride because we dare to ride when others fear to!

And we work so we can enjoy our rides! :msn-wink: I bet the next time you throw your leg over your steed of freedom, you will just have that happy place which only bikers know, and only a bike can scratch! :sunny:

GIJoe!

Yesterday dawned bright with a sunrise filling my house with warm light. I was up before first crack, washing and towelling Scoot. I rode across to my friend Nikki's house, and picked her up along with her Mom and Dad (on a Road King no less). Braving a rain shower and gravel roads had taken their toll, Scoot was dirtier than Lisa Lewis. Sigh. We do we bother? So, with perfect pillion (small, light, hot, and a laugh) we trudged out to Karaka, doing the speed limit. No, not the limit at which the horsepower can no longer out muscle drag, but the actual speed limit. Who would have guessed Harley's are so fricken slow??

We queued around the feeder road, how many bikes this year, scoping out all the hot rides, and the hot chick wearing knee high CFM boots (pointing and chuckling). Then we followed the rest for our ride across Aucks, with the shortest diversion along Queen St, then onto the bridge and across to AUT. After a small tour of the carpark (think hours, not minutes), we parked up and said hi to all sorts, studiously avoiding GIJoe (where were you mate??). We rode up to where the Helo was landing, then headed across to Albania for coffee and breakfast. Good morning for all. When's the next group ride?

Nice to meet you at the carpark at the end of the ride GIJoe. Although I can't remember if I actually introduced myself or not. My bike was parked between eatorbeeaten's and a crazy custom jobby with triangular handlebars.

Riding with you is a state between "What the hell is he going to do next" and "dang, where did the day go for riding? Oh! That's right - waiting for Gremlin to get up!"
