Ricey, of Holeshot, lent me a flash Canon lens today at the mini MX champs.....

I may have to sell one of my twins for medical experiments...

I sooo want a Canon 70-200 2.8 usm ( plus a few more letters and numbers I've forgotten.....)

Here's the results of my dalliance with the sultry Ms Canon (the temptress...)

And thanks Ricey....I think... :niceone:

dude, make a website (ill help ya), put various photos from sandpit, minimoto, etc etc and give people the opportunity to buy quality digital images of themselves or the kids doing what we all love.
I have next to no photos of myself riding, sell'em for 10 bucks each, high res digital file only. $10 is dirt cheap then hookup some advertising at the sandpit and let people know that the photos are available www....

I know your photography is a hobbie but if your hobbie can help pay for it self we all win.

Id pay more to see the photos of KTM boy losing it on the trials park.

Phil, he's right, you take a great photo and everyone likes seeing themselves in print......start small and work it up from there.

Woohoo -they are going hard.

Pic 3 has got the back wheel well spinning and as for pic 5, full throttle, back wheel spinning, front wheel in the air and you can see he's got his race face on.

Wooh not cheap but you can easily spend more. Yep think you may have to put the kids to work. You need to get one.
Like the idea of puting photos up for sale.

I'd have a look for a 50-500 Sigma ( Bigma ), not a 70-200, but way longer reach & pretty damn sharp @ f8. I've got a 170-500 & it's ok.
The one good thing about lenses is they don't depreciate like dirt bikes :).
Sweet photo's, you're getting damn good.

If you are serious about wanting a decent lens I know of a very good shop where the owner uses and recommends cannon. She has, on the odd occasion even let me use her gear and I know what you mean, it makes your pics come to life.

On a side note, everyone wants to see themselves but very few people want to pay for the photos you take, we tried it at a round of the MX nationals and got some great shots, people didn't like the price, which I felt was reasonable and it meant you had to spend all day taking photos hoping to get one someone would want.
What I'm saying is keep it as a hobby, that way you'll enjoy it.

Drop me a line if you do want a lens and I'll see how sharp I can get the pencil for you, but then again once you get a great lens you'll then want a higher spec camera, it becomes a spiral into a deep bottomless hole....

Quick bit of advice though: Chuck your watermark over the most detailed, vital bit of the photo. Otherwise you get hacks (like me) photoshopping the watermark out, upsampling the whole pic, and walla - no need to pay for the photo...

Oh, btw, watermark removal and image resizing services available to all.. only $9! (jokes)

People are primarily interested in themselves - Show someone a school photo and usually they scan it for pictures of themselves first.
If I knew there was a website where there were images for sale of different riders on corners, river crossings, jumps etc , i would be keen to buy some, definitely!
And im sure im not alone. The quality of every single shot that clmintie has put on kb has been outstanding - perfect timing, perfect clarity.
A website would handle the "selling part" of the hobby for you and let you carry on with what you like doing most(riding and shooting photos).

Website would be a good idea, they don't cost much to run and you could probably do prints of pix on demand. I wouldn't mind a nice poster or two of people on bikes with nice nz scenery in the bg.

Hey clmintie, a high res jpg should surfice for 98% of people, resized to A4 @ 300dpi rgb with a compression rate of 10 will produce a high quality, photo realistic print . these settings will yield a image under 2mb that you should be able to email. anyone asking for the raw file, more than likely doesn't know what they are talking about.
Stay away from the printing its expensive and time consuming, my suggestion is to email the file and "they" take to harvey norman or whereever to get printed at whatever size they want. my 2c
