All I Can say is… bring on the winter series..
Having decided to raffle of my bike I thought I couldn’t very well go and race it again could i….. so I Just picked up my new ride on the Friday night before and took it to the track early sat morning to test… in case you’re wondering what the ride is it’s another GSXR 1000 ofcourse and it has had a little tickle up.!!
Testing: saturday
Jimmy aka Mr. Dalton was there bright and early to help set up and check the bike …without this mans help(if ya can call Jimmy a man that is !!) I would seriously not be able to have done what I did..
Robert Taylor worked a little magic to set a few things up and ready to test… managed a 63.5 so a fair way of the pace…but first time on the bike I m not complaining !
Interesting enough as soon as I rode out of pit lane (remember I hadn’t ridden this bike before at all) I straight away noticed the bikes handling and I think I had a massive grin under my helmet for the whole practice..
Second test.. Again.. Jimmy changed a few things for the better and we straight away did a 62.3 the bike felt stable and comfortable…
Qualifying:
All is well managed to take another second off and landed with a 61.6 , absolutely stoked..
Sunday racing:
As well as Jimmy .. jonno his lover (affman) came out like a good sport and helped big time
Rain shine, rain , shine, rain , shine…..we didn’t know whether we were Arthur or Marthur..
first race: got restarted and I got a wicked start, ( I think 5 th or 6 th into turn one )but it didn’t take long for a few people to pass me.. lol
Rhys was my target , but boy does his bike have some ponies!!
Saw Gareth sit on the side line on the back straight saw he was ok and thought, ah well at least im not last again …J
Finished 8 th.. mintJ
Race two: got a wicked start only for my bike to bog down .so had to spin the throttle one more time, but to late and everyone shot past me tucked in behine Richard prowse, and he pulled away from me on the straight…. I thought fuck this for a Sunday.. I chucked my lollies out of the cot.. and started giving chase, telling myself at the 200 meter mark,, don’t brake yet… eventually braking and going ..oh hell..and finding a new comfort zone.. snuck right behind Richard but still couldn’t take him, but eventually got him on the front straight before turn one.. then I saw rhys up ahead,, but he too pulled away.. and eventually out of sight I pulled a 60.07 out of the bag the fastest I have personally been around puke again wrapped for the second day on the bike..
Im gonna make some changes and hope I can improve a little more during the winter series as LG have indicated they want to continue their support, good thing is this year we may be able to tie it in with a manufacturer.. my goal is to do it for one more year and go hard In hindside I wished I changed bikes at the beginning of the season.
Big massive thank you to our sponsors LG LIFE’S GOOD without their support, this would not have been possible!!
Pit crew Jimmy , Affman, Drew, Morrie, (Sue and Kieron to let ya man take care of us..)and many more people that offered their support
Dunlop… cos everyone wants them, they are definitely the best there is !!
Haldanes, especially Ramon" for servicing my bits and pieces 706 great south rd penrose.
Ps we have many many track/race day tires for sale… so just pm me.
On we go to Taupo for the winter series !!!
