Dont have a power commander but find someone down your way who has a Teka SFI tuner. Tunes the Suzuki ECU maps directly, saves the cost of a Power Commander and does the same job.

Thanks for that i have been told that you can tune via teka but have also been told this would take in access of 3 to 5 hours to tune at $100 an hour plus $150.0 test base run and also not as fine tuning available, not sure how true that is but 5 hours to tune a bike seem a little excessive dont you think.
Cheers Nathan

I must be at the wrong end of the country. We charge $325 all up. 2 1/2 hrs@120 and $25 machine charge for the teka.
You could easily spend 3-5 hrs doing a power commander, change to advance mode and double the time.
Teka doesnt have the fine tuning range of a power commander but you dont actually need so many adjustments. If you are unlikely to be increasing power by more than 50% the teka is perfectly adequate. Power wise no difference. In fact down low the teka can do a better job. PC injection events are retarded cf to stock and on some bikes this can lead to slightly rough running at low rpm/ low throttle openings. Teka doesnt change injection timing.
Never had a problem when fitting and tuning exhaust, aircleaner and cams.
Personally I think there are way too many adjustment cells in a Power commander anyway. Having near 2000 cells to adjust (advanced mode) doesnt mean you end up with a better tune. Just a bigger bill.

Hi thanks for that seems that the guys i was talking to are trying to sell me a power commander over setting up with a teka the quote was to charge 3 to 5 hours plus $150 dollars base run using the teka system , i spoke today to sportzone who have a teka but have no way of actually seeing what they are doing as they dont have a dyno so would just be guessing, so seems a waste of time taking it to them, there must be someone who knows a place in christchurch who have the teka and a dyno and are not charging the earth to tune a B King.

Start at the start mate... what are you trying to achieve? That'll dictate which option is best for you. If you're planning on running multiple maps, or logging data, or fitting nitrous or forced induction, for example, then that makes your options list a lot smaller.

What about the Ashburton Dyno??? I think its at the Honda dealer but could be wrong

Right lets start at the beginning, i have recently bought a b king which has had some yoshi cans fitted. All seems ok ish apart from it spluttering and not pulling cleanly in the lower revs and it does not seem to want to go as it should, shutting off and putting throttle back on also causes un clean acceleration .
Basically this bike with these cans should pull nicely at any revs without any hesitation, that is basically what i want, i dont want to put nos or turbo it well untill i have at leaset paid for the bike.
I have contacted honda country in ashburton and those are the guys who are suggesting a power commander, and also if not near on $700 to set up with a the teka.
I just want to get as much horsepower and clean throttle response as possible, not a lot to ask really.
Cheers Nathan

ask your local suzuki dealer if they have a 'yoshi box' it can do very basic fuel adjustments on suzuki ecu.

very strange that some slip on cans has caused that sorta problem with the bike.

WHen was last serviced?

Go and see this bloke who has a TekaTuner
Peter Fenton. (TripleR Racing) Just around the corner from Sportzone, ask at sportzone and they should be nice and tell you where to go.
And if you are up this way, Ray Clee, myself and Haldanes have the latest Teka tuner. (Ray and I have dynos as well)
cheers

If you just have an off idle splutter that you need correcting, then a TEKA tune will do all you need. It'll take less than an hour, and the cost will reflect that. Sportzone have one, and at least one of their techs has been to a Suzuki training day to learn how to use it correctly. I dare say that a lack of power isn't a problem on the B-King, so not much to be gained from putting it on a dyno; you're only talking about a subtle tweak to the low load adjustment. They'll know what to do, they'll have done it before.

very strange that some slip on cans has caused that sorta problem with the bike. Not too unusual for an injected Suzuki to have a slight 'cough' off of idle in about the 3500-4500 range when fitted with race style cans. Mostly noticeable when putting around town, going around intersections etc. The ones I've experienced ranged from mildly annoying to a little dangerous (cough makes the bike 'drop' into the corner as the drive line isn't holding it up any more).

Thanks all for the advise, bike has only done 6 k so should not need anything done as far as servicing the ignition/spark side of things. i Have now contacted Peter Fenton who as give me a straight forward answer and has said he can sort my bike out for me tuning it up on his dyno.
So thanks everyone for there input and hopefully soon i will be able to tell you all how good my B king is going.
Cheers
Nathan
