I'm sure, that like myself, 99.9% of kb members are in awe of the fantastic job speed camera operators do in keeping our roads safe. Without their tireless vigilance, I for one am sure, that we wouldn't be able to share our fine roads with what surely must be the most highly skilled and courteous motorists in the world. How then I hear you ask can we show these fine fellows and fellowesses our appreciation for their tireless dedication???? Well ask no more for I believe the answer to this more burning qeustion than the meaning of life, lies not at the end of the yellow brick road but the end of your left thumb. What better way to say thanks than a long and lusty blast of your horn whenever passing one of these vanned crusaders, imagine the looks on their cherubic faces when coming home at the end of the day to tell their families of a day spent being tooted at endlessly, feeling the love they'd so long desired.
So get on your horns and get your friends and their friends hell why not their friends friends while your at it and show your appreciation to these real life heroes, i'm sure they'll love you for it.

Most of the time they are sitting in the rear of the van with its tinted windows (doing something??) - so they probably wouldnt see the finger. Tooting the horn sounds like a good idea :soon:

What I want to know is how do you get that job.
- senior policeman on mega pay.
- drive to location
- park van
- load film into camera and switch on
- go to sleep or
- read the latest bike mag or
- text friends
- sleep some more
- take film out of camera and deliver to the photo lab
- go home
It has to be the cushiest job ever and does it really need a police officer.
Of course being a kb'er it would be
- KBer on mega pay.
- drive to location
- park van
- load film into camera and switch on
- go to sleep or
- read the latest bike mag or
- text friends
- or do some mechanical work on your bike or (Which you can take with you)
- sleep some more
- go online and post on KB
- invite riders around for a chat or to drop off a coffee
- take film out of camera and deliver to the photo lab
- go home
Yep, how tough can that job be.

Dont wanna burn the party - but I understand none of them are cops. Some of them are retired cops, but most of them are just old buggers with nothing else to do.

Last time I went past one of these, I waved to the gnome inside...(OK OK, it was with one finger)....JUST as he walked around the side of the van......

Ah....I take it from your vehemently humourous attack on the 'Kojak's with Kodaks' as our fine Seppo friends call them that you have recently infracted, so to speak?
My sympathies if this is indeed so.
I agree the friendly tootling of your horn when passing these earnest fellows would be a wonderful way to show ones appreciation of their upstanding work in the war against the evil that is speed.
Though, I would also suggest giving some consideration to the ingenious actions of our friends in the UK: http://www.speedcam.co.uk/gatso2c.htm

Love the qoute "all cameras have a police warning sticker but this fails to deter the vandals"
Actually I haven't received one of those racey blue and white envelopes for a while, touch wood.

Yes, well..... I suppose you'd actually have to ride your bike for that to happen.....
