I had an 04 zx10... the norm from what, 13-14 litres was anywhere between 160km and 200km
depending how you rode it of course
Worst consumption was 7.5L/100km, but that was a track day.

are you sure?????
not much difference km/l between your track day and normal riding. Perhaps you kept to 100kph on the trackday.

my '98 900 gets 12km/l avg compared to your 9.2. Very dependant on riding style though

yes... I'm sure its that way around
I couldn't be bothered trying hard on the straights, and had brake fade quite a bit, so that restricted the fun somewhat...

I was refilling my GSXR1000K3 at 170-180kmh intervals, I had no fuel light though due to faulty loom, so that was out of caution more than need.
I managed to get 230km and still had 2.5L left on sedate ride from Auckland up to Kaitaia. That works out to around 15-17km/L

so you have bought an R1 for economical motorcycling and commuting???
most people who buy an R1 are more interested in the outright performance and kudos of owning one of the fastest bikes ever than they are in fuel economy
if you are worried about the fuel consumption and costs of getting to work a small car will work out far cheaper and save knocking your bike around commuting in crap weather

Sorry mate I can't remember what exactly my '06 FZ1 (slightly detuned '03 R1 motor) was doing fuel consumption wise but it seemed a tad hungrier than my mates bikes.
All the tests i've ever read on litre sports bike the R1 was always the hungriest of the group.

yer, i was gunna say, who buys one for economy, but seen as you asked, if your just cruzing to work, on maybe mainly highways, it should be a bit better, or maybe the carb ones arnt so good, if it is a carb one. mines injected and does about 180/200 max just cruzing.
