For those of you that haven't done it before, PM Enigma51 or Kiwifruit to see what they think of it....... (Mind you, they are hard bastards.....):rofl::no:

We will have spare gear for people to use, but if you've got your own, then I suggest bringing it. The more protection you have, the better. If you do not have appropriate gear, then the speeds are reduced..........
I heard Enigma will be wearing a tutu this year......:niceone:

I pussied out. But this year I'll be able to ride down myself instead of having to take the bus like a little bitch, so I'll be there. Assuming something horrible doesn't happen.
I'm not going out on the freakshow though.
Might be a bit less fat by November, too.

cool will make sure the mrs is there, she's been saying how she would like to swing (!!?), or I may be WAY off track!
In seriousness tho, I dont think she comprehends the speed and forces. She may have to borrow someone else's leathers tho, poo would be hard to get off.I presume so!

I took my mrs and kids to this last year. It was one of the best family days out we have had all year. Bloody brilliant! Thanks to the sidecar lads for sharing ther toys.
Bring your family, your mates, and any bike safety gear you can get your hands on. If you do any sort or motorsport at all you will want to see this. Minimoto boys - come and check this out, it is fully mad. Bring all the money you can LOL coz its a quality thrill for ten bucks.

Every year so far I've had something else that was more important to get to. So the dates in the diary and we'll be there. My wife doesn't know it yet but given a few months my plan is quietly work away at the idea so she's ready for it.

Genuine attempts at good lap times? I'd hop on.
Although I'm really gonna need some tuition from sidecar bob regarding how the hell to get all the way over the other side of the machine after the hairpin, because I have no doubt you'll be doing stupid things with the throttle all the way out of it.
Come to think of it, I might just go back to being scared. Maybe I'll just go out with Divvo. Have a wee picnic and a nap down the back straight. That sort of thing. Nice and restful. Ribs all stay in one piece.

We would go about 60 to 70 percent of normal pace with a noob on. On the short Taupo track the risk of flipping is fairly minimal because you are going to come off exiting the hairpin, which is followed by a right hander, so yeah, nah, no worries about flipping, so feel free to bail off till youre tired.

Okay, spoke with my wife and she's in for this. She just wants to know how safe it is or better still will she stay on.
So when you've taken noobs around who are a little conservative have you lost any of them overboard. I'm guessing not and that it's a well organised and safe event.
I wonder if the older ones are better to start with although seeing Will and Julie on the Triumph makes me wonder about that. I'm surprised the bike holds up to the punishment it gets. Those two look like they have a lot of fun.
Actually that can be said for the sidecars in general. You folks look like you're enjoying yourselves out there.

Yeah!! I may have to turbo charge the freakshow, and run it on nitromethane and use it only at fun events, just so Bob has to work a bit harder!!
You know something, he even has the audacity to pour water over his face after a race, just so it looks like he's sweating!!!
He even texted me before Paeroa saying I was too slow for him, and I couldn't make him sweat!!!

Dude noobs do fall off. But thats 99% of the time cause they wanna go as fast as possible :shifty: (Thats at least why i fell off)
If you go up to any of the teams on the day and ask them to take it easy they will. Trust me your wife is in safe hands.
I found the classics "easier" as they dont accelerate as hard as the other rigs giving you a little more rest time. But dont think for one second its any less fun/scary these thing will brake and turn like you cant believe!
Dont tell scrivy but the first time you get on its a little scary but after the first corner you just wanna go faster and faster.

Thanks my wife will be pleased to hear that although I'm not sure what use she'll be as a swinger. She weighs 47-49kg and thinks she's a little heavy. She also doesn't read this thread. Apparently I'm overweight so I'll be more useful on the back.
So how many pillions get to do the bouncy thing or slide and how are they afterwards. I'm assuming the slide or roll does more damage to the ego than anything else.

You very close to ground so you dont have the sudden impact.... you just slide on your ass .... back ...... knees...... grass......
Taupo is pretty safe for falling off so no worries.
Now saying that i did have 3 cracked and 1 broken rib  Again that was cause i wanted to go as fast as possible and was concentrating on the cornering and the acceleration not thinking that hang on this thing needs to brake..... HARD. and got slammed into mudguards a few times.

There seems to be two style
out the side head first or body extend
or stick you ass out leaning forward towards the bike getting as low as possible.
Then for right handers there is two again
just behind the driver but still on the left
or
Extended over the rear wheel
which one is better

From what I gathered on the last have a go day it's pretty much impossible to stick your head out on an LCR, and the short track ones are fun to get low to the ground on, but the lcrs are fun in an "oh shit is the wheel suposed to be this far off the ground", holding on tight trying not to get pulled off kind of way. BUT
seeing as its at cost to you guys to run the rig. You have to "buy" in to be up for the trophy. A extra $5 or something like that.
