What a pity, I've just came home from viewing and test riding the bike. The seller made a mistake, it was actually 79,000 not 9,000 on the odometer.

I think I will stick to my FXR and just pay $5500 for a CBR/ZXR from a dealer.

Yeah, but what was the performance like?

SuperDave
4th March 2005, 19:55
I'm not that experienced on riding 250's or inline fours for that matter. It seemed alright, but I decided to pass. I'll rather wait till I have 5500 and I'll just go and buy a nice CBR from a dealer :D

Oh I forgot to mention, the speedo is busted as well. CBR or ZXR, whatever feels the best on a test ride and is the right price and specs in 5 months time :)

either way, You cannot be disapointed.

But still at 79k it still maybe a good nick engine...

Why do you want to spend 5500 on a 250??

Just get something to learn on........ and sit the CBTASSJHZGVS course in 4 months or sooner if you're over 25.

Then go buy a real toy :ar15:

Huh:spudwhat:

Sorry dude, but as far as I'm concerned, an extra 70 thousand kms out of no where is somewhat of a disappointment. But yeah, the engine might be in good nick as you say, but I'd rather wait and pay an extra $2000 and get an engine with only a quarter of the milage on it.

For the simple fact that I am not going to jump from a 150cc to a 600cc. I'd rather get a good 250 that will last me. But that course sounds interesting, I might go an look into it.

its not the the engine to worry about with that milage,,, wear and tear on shock, forks, steering head bearings ,, my advice spend an extra few ucks and get a low milage model ,, and good on ya for not getting a big cc bike just yet ,, work your way up ,,, :niceone:

The difference between a 150 and a 250 isn't much, but at least the 250's don't depreciate as much. Why don't you step up to a 400?

justsomeguy
5th March 2005, 11:51
Why not just buy a 600 and ride it carefully until you gain your confidence????

How much riding have you done (kms)? What sorts of riding do you do?

If you've done a few months of riding gone on a few KB rides, done an advanced learners course like ridesafe, etc........ gone out on a track, etc then I feel you should have the ability TO START LEARNING to ride a 600.

If you haven't done the above.... there's a ride safe course on the 20th and Frosty's trying to put together a bunch to go to Taupo in April.

yeah but my first bike was a honda vt250 then a suzuki impulse 400 then zxr750 then a gsxr-1100 ,, so i worked my way up ,,, then i went back to a rgv250 ,, my girlfriend has a suzuki gsx250 and its the best fun to ride ,,so its not all about engine size more about riding style confidence in cornering ,,stopping,, etc,,,, just get out there and enjoy! :done:

The 250 I will get will be an inline four, four stroke, compared to my current 1 cylinder 150cc four stroke I would say there is a quite a difference. Don't like any of the 400s to be honest and I would rather go 150, then 250 then 600.
I am only 17, bear that in mind as well.

I agree with the milage comment - thats why I payed the extra dollars and got it from a dealer with low milage. Its just easier to look after and keep its value abit better.

As for the 150 - 250 difference, jezus I noticed a huge difference from a 250 parallel twin so I will tell you for free that the inline for would be the equivilent of a 400 in the respect to an upgrade from a 150 single.

But I recommend to get what you want no point getting a 600 and killing yourself or riding it like a nana, otherwise I would have a brand new ZX6r in my garage but I figured once I start to ride the limits of the 250 I will look at the 600's...

DO what you want man, no point listening to others (no disrespect) but in the end its your money and your choice to live with and at 17 I really think its silly to get anything bigger than a 250 because the showoff factor is impossible to avoid (Dont I know It!! lol)

Judging bike by appearence again are we?

I agree its a nice bike, but I would rather upgrade to a 600/1000 after a 250, as a 400 is only a slight power upgrade (from what I know)
