Police believe an organised ring of motorcycle thieves are at work in Wellington after 2 stolen vans were found near Leeds Lane on Saturday night.

Both vans had ramps which Police suspect were intended to help the thieves load bikes into the back.

Police are advising bike owners to take extra care securing their bikes when parking in Wellington city.

Right. It's vigilante time.

Who's with me? I'll provide the bait, I just need a couple of tough cunts prepared to show little mercy.

You obviously read about those guys in the UK that did that, after getting nowhere by waiting for the police to catch them.
They locked up a bike in some area where thefts had been occuring, hid in a van nearby, then leapt out and grabbed some punks that took the bait, then took them away and gave them a thrashing, before releasing them and telling them to tell all their mates they were next...

I'd totally believe that. Whne my bike was stolen (before I owned it) it wasn't just wheeled away b/c our place isn't that easy to get to. Definitely a van job and someone with some heavey duty cain cutting equipment b/c it's has a BIG fuck off chain around it.

Obviously whoever decided to nick it hadn't had a goos look at the paint job and decided it wasn't worth the bother of getting rid of all thoese stickers and dumped it pretty promptly.

In fact I think where we live may be a place they use to sometimes dump parts of stolen cars.

Cheers for the heads up. Wonder if they planned to target parked bikes during the day, bikes parked at home, or bike shops?

It's only a matter of me, before they're caught.
My best friend happens to be a dear old lady called Kharma. If she ever catches these wipper-snappers, she'll belt them black and blue, on the rear-end so they can't sit down for a week. :(

Heh heh, you know Leeds lane is only a couple of blocks from Police HQ, they probably spotted them from the cafeteria window at lunchtime.

For a minute I thought they were in Chews lane :) which is directly across the road from Police HQ, now that would have been really funny.

Well... apart from the nicking and stuff.

Sedge.

They'd need a wider ramp for a start.

All things come to those who deserve it. The fact that the vans where found is evidence of it in itself. :wari:

Why would anybody put a bike in a wheelchair? Sounds a bit extreme -- even for a Harley...

What about the rights of the thieves? Surely after they get arrested they should get minimum sentence and $10 000 in compensation?
