Spies is really judging the race well, dare I say it, a little Rossi like in the way he sits and waits 'till the last few laps and then pulls the plug. :niceone:
Nice work by the top three really, left the rest behind big time.

Reckons Spies will win the championship with two rounds spare. I tend to agree.

Early days, but it's hard to argue against.....how stoopid are Suzuki looking?

The way MotoGP is looking these days WSBK, and the Yamaha ride in particular, is looking like a very astute career move.

You know what's a real shame, the fact that Troy Bayliss retired the year before Spies started. Not that would be a hell of a championship race.

I'm just stoked to see the Ape on the podium in the second round. That's pretty darn impressive IMO! Even Nakano wasn't too far down the pack so it'll be interesting to see whether these two guys can maintain it.

looks like spies has the ability, not to mention the bike.I think Haga will be the main threat,if he can stay on the bike and if he can press home the advantage on the "ducati tracks".But with all the brands there now looks like agood racing all through the feild.I am sure we will have some surprises too!

The RSV4 - Yea its doing great but what about the first time up BMW? That managed to have both in the top 10 in the second race. They have very little data to go by compared to the Aprilia boys. No doubt Aprilia is benifiting from the data gained from running the RSVR in previous years - That and having Biaggi may have a lil to do with it. Not to mention the Big Bang Yamaha - thats all new too.

God I would love an RSV4 though! I think its going to be a bit of a legendary bike in time.

Gotta love the comment the Ducati crew chief noted prior to the races - "Spies - we can do nothing about that".

Haga must be feeling pretty ripped off at the moment. This was going to be his year - he had the ride on the Ducati - Bayliss has retired, it was ment to be. Then Yamaha recruited this US Gun - and he is on his old ride too - well old team anyway.

rsvr has not raced in superbike the rsv(Mille) race back in 99-00 or something like that.

Yes BMW has done very well also, but with corser on it i wouldn't expect it to be mid pack, i was expecting the rsv4 to be mid pack, for first half of season also.

Thats how it looks. For Haga to beat Spies he will have to take big risks (= crashes and goodbye championship).

The SBK regulars don't look so flash right now, huh.

Or the new R1 is just a great bike.

Considering it's early development and Tom Sykes, is doing well too it's not all Spies, although he is obviously a huge talent, as proven in the 'States.

At the same time Suzuki must be kicking themselves!

Spies vs Rossi will be even better...and it will happen next year I'll bet on it!

Yeah and that's pretty fucking impressive on a superbike round there.

Does anyone know how long Spies contract in WSBK is? Be ideal for him to win as a rookie then move on to Moto GP the following year - as that is where he wants to be apparently.

He's done about 3 as a wild card for Suzuki, but no one would give a contract!!!

while im quite keen on spies doing well don't forget that motogp is a whole other world to wsbk. look at the names that have gone both ways and not too many have done exceptionally well. GP is alot more technical than wsbk and rewards riders for a much greater technical knowledge than wsbk. WSBk requires monumental balls and the ability to be able to really race hard.

hopefully we shall see if spies can get a decent GP ride.

Ben's contract is for a year - to keep his options open, he says. Little doubt that once Yamaha like you somewhere, they like you for GP, if you're young enough, too, that helps. He's 24.
Biaggi and the Aprilia have been a revelation, and the bike must be a big part as Nakano's going well on it too. Batta is threatening to protest it once they get to Europe (in that it's not based on a 'production' bike and Aprilia haven't made enough road versions) - hard to see it sticking.

Cheers
Barry

Haga seems to be riding with a cool head, probably deserves a title by now ?

No one is mentioning Big Ben landing on his face, fast corner that ! or are we saving all the chat for local wacing ? G. (pete, where are ya ?)

Hehe...right here mate! Spies crashes sooner or later like they all do mate! Not often though. Haga will toss it away at some stage too. 40 odd points the diff now I believe. Still think Spies will win it, as there's a long way to go yet.

It's impressive how truly fast riders learn new tracks - like it's not even an issue to get on pole after a quick look around...

There is another thread here somewhere about spotting talent, ( I mean real talent) . They should take a look at Ben Spies. (how do they get Spees out of that ?) Gaz.

Anyhow Gaz - the REAL racing starts this weekend, yeehaa. :niceone: :niceone:
