As far as I can gather Powerbuilt Motorsports is showing something from the Nationals @ 3:45 today on 1.
They didn't say anymore than its from Powerbuilt Raceway, was that the 1st round?

Bit dissappointing they only showed the SBK's, never mind there's always Mini's and go karts to watch..............oh and don't forget speedway and Indycars doing circles.............I see even tri athelon has its own NZ show now.
Am I being negative again?......................

Who ever is in charge of getting all the other minor motorsport on tv needs to be hired by MNZ.
Hope no one told their sponsors they'd be on tv...........................

Must be a sponsor thing as the short bit of the drags i watched , I saw numerous times sponsors getting serious attention from the camera..
I was being ironic about the drags....<_<

We gave up the prize money the other end of the deal wasn't held up

I think you'll find it wasn't for TV coverage, but for advertising the meetings in general.

The other classes from Ruapuna will be shown next week I believe?
I just saw Bike Rider Magazine on Sky tonight - it showed highlights from Paeroa. Who knew it was on? Why aren't we all bulk emailed out by MNZ or the affiliated club that ran the meeting to advise us of the show?? How can sponsors get bang for their buck when they don't get to see the coverage??
On another note......
I think we are all to blame for the poor turnout of spectators at race meetings.
I include myself in that category too for my Taupo event. Unfortunately advertising costs lots of money, and you never recoup that back.
BUT, there are other ways to let people know of event happenings.
We should all include any motorcycle events in our own websites, links in our e-mails (sig lines on our e-mails), program guides from the previous events should say 'Don't miss the next round at...'.
Also, how many of us after a race meeting bother to go into our local newspaper to get them to write a story about us? Imagine if we all did it after every round!! I am positive it would get more sponsors interested with their bike being in the news in their local rag!! Afterall, the write ups are free to you, and you get huge exposure for your sponsors!!
We are all to blame!! All of us really, (apart from those of us that do get off their chuffs).
I wish we could get shit loads more bike racing on TV. If we all had snippets in our own papers all the time, more people would become interested!
Or am I a lost soul??? :innocent:

I believe being on TV is also a factor of how many people ring the station wanting to see motorcycles on TV. Just the same way that they re-screen programmes etc. So today ringing and asking for more coverage of the riding and when the next riding is on all filters back to the programming people.
As for attendance. Motorcycling just makes it too hard to attend. I attended Round 5 with the family.
For AMCC who run the event. You go to their website to find that round 5, is on at Pukekohe and run by AMCC on the 7th and 8th. As someone who wants to go, that is pretty useless information.
Jumped onto NZSBK. They tell you which day it's on and that it costs $15 for Saturday and $20 for "Saturday and Sunday". I thought bugger that. For me, wife and three kids under 10 that would be $100.
Paul had left his mobile number on the site, so I rang him to find kids were free. Most people looking to bring out kids wouldn't know that. I still didn't know what time racing started, what parking cost etc.
I emailed NZSBK and AMCC with some positive suggestions for change. NZSBK got back the next day and will make the changes to the website for future events. I haven't heard rom AMCC.
So the changes I suggested were;
- List the price for days, families, kids, adults and what age a kid is.
- List the start time of the event at least ( a race schedule would be better).
- Tell me how much for parking (and where)
- If I'm riding in from out of town I want to know if there is gear storage, how much and where.
This is what I, as a consumer would like to know.
In this day of the web and email ....
It would be easier to get a Superbike through the eye of a needle than to find information on race events it seems.
"Google is my friend" is a belief I have but in this case Google could do little to tell me anything useful about Round 5.
Being at Round 5 was a different story. We had a good day. The food was good. Coffee was better off site. The sound was a little annoying later in the day but all in all a good day out, great weather and not many people there.
________________________________
The sport doesn't so much suffer from a lack of money, but apathy and a clear strategy of "how to" and a lack of customer focus. I had looked at the NZSBK site from the point of view of a customer wanting to come to an event. Most of the information i needed wasn't there. The AMCC site... well... I'm not sure what it's strategy is but when you click on "Race Events" you get two categories in each month "Bucket" and "Other" (Major Road Race Events 2009). That tells me two things. The site is for the club members who know what the deal is and just has the dates as a reminder and, Buckets are of more interest than anything else.

has anyone else read the latest nzsbk report. looks like the "minor" classes (f3/protwin,125,sidecars) wont be shown on tv. the report says "NZ Motorcycling Road Race Series Report.
The second report from the series as we build up to the coverage from the final round coverage next week." wait a sec they have only had supers and 600s from ruapuna. have the others been left out or are they going to be run at a later date?

Certainly dissapointing to see such minimal coverage! 600SS this weekend and we pretty much only saw the top 2. Plently of good action/crashes that was missed. Aas for only showing 2 classes from 1 meeting, over 2 weeks.........
Hate to say it but the drag racing was just as exciting.

Jay's in particular - how'd they miss that?
Would've been good for a couple of hundred replays (and Sam Smith's from last year) to `raise the sport's profile'!

Nah, just a track crossover section (think suzuka without the bridge) and maybe a wee jump on the main straight.
Wouldn't need volunteers then.
