He had 4 rides and kept out of trouble. Hastings track. Came 3rd outta 5 in three of the "No License yet" races. In last one he came last. But was happy. He was getting a little tired.
Bought a KTM 50cc aircooled little thingy of John from here on KB (thanks dude!). Did some repairs and the bike is working.
When we got there I had a chat with a guy next to us. He was telling me all the ins re what is going on. Clearly I move in different circles! $6K is what you pay for a 2009 65cc KTM. He had a 2005 one for his son, but admitted that his son needs one of the 2009 models to be competetive. The boy is 10.
Even the 50cc one I have is out of fashion. Aircooling is soo yesterday. Watercooling is what makes you win. And all the pretty colours.
But we will get there. Let the boy use what we have for a few monts and if he still is keen after that, then lets start spending money.
But in the meantime I have plans on some upgrades:
- swap the 2 shoe auto clutch for a 3 shoe later model one
- swap the 10inch front wheel for a 12 inch one
- new piston and rings to get more umph and less smoke
- a tidy up of the graphics and nice numbers
- sort the noisy muffler
- fit a foot rear brake (his has a hand one)
