View Full Version : Is anyone good with Photoshop?

I'm looking into making some large decals for the sides of my tank.

I don't have the Photoshop skills to make what i'm after, and i'm afraid MS Paint just won't quite cut it, so I thought i'd put the challenge up. I'm happy to re-imburse for time taken, in the way of Beers/Bourbons per hours as I just don't have the skills.

It's for my Streety, so a Modern take on the Union Jack is the general idea i'm playing around with. Perhaps something like a Grafitti style, or even a "Bleeding out"-type Union Jack. Something that is different, and not easily replicated. Or something torn, and tattered, such as the one displayed in The Trooper.

Been doing that for a fair chunk of the night. Can't seem to find anything suitable, unless you can suggest some keywords I haven't thought of.

I really like the "broken" effect at the front. Something like that would suit well.

Googled it out of interest and the number of pages on the image tab...

Well.... let's just say I didn't go very far and that was skipping ahead and only clicking every 6 -8 pages or so....

I really like the bits where it says the Scots were fighting on both sides ...

Wikipedia:
The Battle of Culloden (Scottish Gaelic: Blàr Chùil Lodair) (16 April 1746) was the final clash between the French-supported Jacobites and the Hanoverian British Government in the 1745 Jacobite Rising. Culloden dealt the Jacobite cause to restore the House of Stuart to the throne of the Kingdom of Great Britain a decisive defeat.

The Jacobites, the majority of them Highland Scots, supported the claim of James Francis Edward Stuart (the "Old Pretender") to the throne. The government army, under the Duke of Cumberland, younger son of the Hanoverian sovereign, King George II, supported his father's cause. It too included Highland Scots, as well as Scottish Lowlanders and English troops.

The aftermath of the battle was brutal and earned the victorious general the nickname "Butcher" Cumberland. Charles Edward Stuart eventually left Britain and went to Rome, never to attempt to take the throne again. Civil penalties were severe with new laws that attacked the Highlanders' clan system. Highland dress was now to be restricted to use by the British Army.

I'd think Illustrator would produce much better print results than Photoshop.
And you'd want something top quality for your bike.

I've just started learning to use Illustrator myself, but there must be some guys on here that got the skills...

I get to travel many parts of that history lesson every week.

Good old Dunners!!
Cumberland St
Stuart St
George St
Hanover St

These ones are all main streets and yet Culloden St is only a wee, pokey side street. Yellowpages Map Link (http://maps.yellowpages.co.nz/mapypnz/DUNEDIN%20CITY/KAIKORAI/CULLODEN%20STREET/)

Yeah, I really like that too.

I've had a word to the sign guys though, and it's gotta be in solid colours, unfortunately, no shading or "speckled" effects, so i'm just gonna slightly modify some of the designs and see what I end up with.

That would depend on what process they use to make it, if it's done on traditional cut vinyl then yes, but you could get it printed on an inkjet printer on either clear or white vinyl.
