And this is the page where you can look up other sites:

Fork in gel!!!
I found a web site I designed and built as a prototype in '02. It was only up as a trial before I pulled the plug.

I'm in shit now, as a certain large mobile communications company wanted to sue the pants off me if I didn't pull it!!

What a great tool - I think.

SpankMe - you're quite a scary sort of fella me thinks. What a morbid fascination. Great site though.

Fark, I've been wasting time here since Nov 02!

Ever wanted to check up old versions of a web site, or look at sites that are now defunct?

Have a play on the "wayback machine" at www.archive.org

Fascinating...

How and why did they manage to archive so much crap?

Actually from a Historian's perspective this site could be pretty damn important in 10 years time.

Most likely it will go the way of it's subject matter though.

Someone forget's to pay for a domain name, and "poof!", all gone.

Umm, Mr Hitcher shouldn't this be in Rant or Rave? I believe this is the second time I've come across an error like this by yourself, standards slipping sir?

I've used it a bit in recent weeks to dredge up a couple of now defunct web sites I've scoped as part of promotional/awareness campaigns for past clients. A bloody brilliant resource. I can even see what my current employer's site looked like in 1997.

Bugger, I'll have to be more on the ball. Was all set to red rep Hitcher for starting this in the wrong forum, but he already moved it :(

In many years to come, are archeoligists going to dig up the internet?

In many years to come, are archeoligists going to dig up the internet?
Probably. After it has been eclipsed by some other technology. Some masters student will do a social commentary thesis on Kiwi Biker and its impact on motorcycling in New Zealand in the early years of the 21st century.

Ooh, the diligence of these moderators, merging threads and all. Impressive.
