View Full Version : Magic - ZX9R disappears or stolen! (17 March)

Hey guys

Some low life has made me the latest victim of bike crime and I'm pretty much gutted as any normal working folks would be. The bike has been with me since stepping foot in NZ in 2002.

Some details;
Location - Moata Road, Oranga, Auckland - near Onehunga.
Bike - ZX9R 1994 Reg No 71 UID
Colour - Yellow with white wheels (custom painted import)
Other - Muzzy muffler, race footpegs, cracks in left side fairing.

Circumstances - Bike was parked on a quiet street outside a friends house. 11pm ish found a broken key inside the ignition rendering it useless. Stuffed up the ride home so parked bike around back of friends house, down a long drive and out of sight. Got lift home to north shore. In that time theif returned to steal the bike, briefly interupted by friends flatmate awakening who had no idea it was flatmates mates bike being taken and upon questioning was told "sorry got the wrong address" and make off he did. Flatmate reported suspicious activity to police at 12.10am to his credit.

Unfortunate evening of occurances but I'm kicking myself for not having a padlock with me and now finding insurance ran out 1 month ago in Feb.

So any help much appreciated, the usual like spotting custom painted ninjas for sale, newly listed parts on trade-me etc, new arrivals in workshops for ignition units etc etc. Any others suggestions greatly appreciated.

I've made a report to police just so no speeding tickets find there way to me from here, but like others on this site have no faith in the system.

Lessons / advice - always use paddocks/ dics locks whatever, more the better, be insured!, any sign of attempted thefts then secure the bike or relocate to safe destination immediately. Always eat your vegatables!

Some pics attached. Feel free to send donations or spare MV Augustas that arnet needed anymore :msn-wink:

Likewise will keep an eye out for you. They're just scum. Where the hell do these bikes go? Do they all get stripped, is the parts market really that big/lucrative who are all th epricks buying the dodgy parts/bikes?
If no one bought them there wouldn't be a market and the asswipes would have to think of another way of earning, as in an honest living aaaargh.
I really feel for you and hope you see your baby again.

Go with case hardened chain - cables can be cut way too easily

Sell them as parts :niceone:

What a fitting punishment for lowlife scum. Sold as parts to make up for whatever damage they have incurred upon others...

I do however like the old skool Kawasaki tank badge. I hope you get it back, along with the rest of the bike.

Maybe it's the Poolice stealing all the bikes. They clearly want us all off the roads.

It's highly likely they're not stupid enough to leave the correct plate on a stolen bike, so it'll do little good. However, the bike is fairly unique colour wise for that model so that should be your first reference, then verify by frame number if the opportunity arises i.e. it's parked.

Persistant bastard/s weren't they, sorta tells me you interupted them first time and they/he watched you push it round the back ! Then to have another go after the flatmate caught him, shit he must have really wanted it bad !
Can't see it ever being riden around, had to be a parts thing !
Something to do would be alert any local keyosks, cause he's more than likely gonna need a new key for his bike ! go make friends with them and ask em to keep an eye out for any ignitions that come in for a new key !
Another to try is accident reports involving a kwaka the same !
Know ya have no faith in the system but it's there and it's only time they don't have, go ask if ya can filter through the accident reports !
Give yr insurance a go too man, they sometimes come to the party !

Does your garage have an alarm

Make sure you chain your bike down too....

Far too many stories on KB involving theft ex garage

PS: Bunnings have a range of "Master" brand case hardened chains for a "reasonable" price...

UPDATE: bike was spotted in albany today going up the hill still had the same plate on. Rider had an "18" on the back of his helmet.

Thanks RM. Yes spotted today just before lunch by none other than yours truely, and dont know what the chances of that happening but I'm going off to buy lotto.

The theif is riding around with the same plate (71 UID)! Myself in a van, I turned off at Otahu Valley Rd towards Browns Bay and spotted a similar looking bike to mine on the opposite side (pretty unique all yellow kwaka ZX9R) so at the roundabout I turned around out of interest and caught up with him, to my shock it was mine.... WITH THE SAME PLATE, EVERYTHING AS WAS, UNBELIVABLE!! (Just laughing at Max P's post!)

Turning slowly red with steam coming out the ears I followed him for as long as possible hoping he would stop or at least not be spooked. He turned right into Otahu Vally Rd Ext then right onto SH17 through Albany town and then left into The Avenue, which is where I lost him through being held up with other cars. He may have shot up the hill for those who know the area or live locally. Unlikely though, with the racksack he looked like he was going for long rides
The theif is medium build, riding with dark leather jacket, jeans and a blue racksack. AND most distinguishing feature is the black / charcoal helmet with the large number 18 on the back (like retro style).

I'm gutted again haha, I was slowly beginning to accept my loss and it feels like its being stolen twice I was so close, boi not a good feeling.
My mobile was flat, the camera I had ON the passenger seat beside me was full memory, I couldnt fiddle with deleting pictures and drive nooooooo

Right Im going to offer a REWARD :second:
 $1500 reward for info leading to finding my baby. Thats what was going towards a go between bike so finder can have it if I get bike back. I'm also deciding to post this out because if the theifs mates are KB members, they will know who he is from the unique helmet he wears and hopefully do the decent thing and dob him in, and get themselves a nice reward too.

Sorry for the long post.....I will post a interesting topic seperatly ..."What would you do if you pulled up behind your stolen bike at the traffic lights?

Finally, is it possible this guy has re-registered my bike and is now the legal owner? I hear NZ has a ridiculous system in place. Or perhaps hes bought recently not knowing it was stolen property  ??

The bike thief is now arrested.

I found him. Called the pigs and they came (after their donut stop) and kicked his arse.

This is how it went down.

Yesterday jovo saw his bike in the Albany area. Unfortunately he lost him in traffic.

I went out in my car looking around Albany looking for his bike. I saw it parked up next to another car on the avenue which turns into poramama road with the prison on it.

Pulled the car up to the kerb, he was in an adjoining carpark for a small strip of shops.

got onto *555 straight away - gave descriptions of the vehicles and the people around. Then he started to gear up, same with his missus.

Cops hadn't turned up so i followed him, he was heading towards albany. finally the cops turned up and followed him, i followd the cops.

after a few mins the cops flash him over and he stops. Gets arrested.

Jovo is out looking for bikes in muriwai (dunno why lol) takes him 30 mins or so to get there and pick his bike up!

Now the bike is back in the right owner, justice has been served.

That is the best thing, and the best news I have heard all week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go RM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice one!!!!!!! I would have rammed the fucker off the bike it'd had of been mine and I saw it riding around (answering Jovo's question - fuck him, mess with my shit, and the result is what Kharma states (what you sow you reap tenfold).

Now, someone hurry up and find Frosty's stuff.

We scummed the scum sucker, or Renegade M did, well down boi! :niceone:

Yes I was in Murewai Beach, went looking up to the prison via The Avenue, brakes must have failed at the top of the hill as I coasted over it and ended up at the beach. 15k's away :msn-wink:

Bike has obviously been droped a few times and has no ignition but has survived. White wheels have turned black magically.

Guy is not saying much to police sounds like others involved. Anyway I'm sure he is looking forward to a nice repair bill.

Well down to Renegade M who picks up the $1500 REWARD, a good days work . Thanks to all who gave their help in whatever small way it was.
