Gman : creases distort graphics but curves are not too bad, purple flames can be arranged for a fee. Some might criticize your coloursceme but :whocares:
It's amazing what the eye can "fix" when it comes to graphics crossing distortions in bodywork , holes in fairings etc. The trick is to design the graphic to suit.
RTB : not a lot of room on Roxanne for the size of decal you'd need to avoid me going mad with teeny tiny letters on the crest motto.
John, take some good square on pics of your existing decals before doing anything else,
the bigger the zoom the better.

Thought of putting those on the main side fairrings both sides of "Roxanne" at the size I could print them on an A4 transprancy. Had got some suff to print it on from Warehouse Stat. But It was not flexiable enough.

Hi
Could you do a BMW one ? Just the letters B M W in blue, NOT the propellor thing . (2 each of 2 sizes )
But preferably with a line above and below (or would it be easier to do the lines separately with just a strip of vinyl ?)
I imagine there would be an extra setup charge, and that's fine.
Regards
Motu

My Acerbis tank is plane white with just the acerbis logo - this tank is the same as mine, but has an XT logo ....it still looks stark,it needs a lot more you reckon?...flash it up eh?
http://www.xt600.de/xt_werkstatt/%2Bgutachten/Acerbis-auf-3TB/acerbis3tb.jpg
Check out this page for tank logos. The one shown on the tank is more 90s style,my original tank has it in red with some splashy stuff around it.

Motu, your tank has creases in it which make nasty ( in my opinion ) ripples in lettering. No doubt there are factory "splashy" graphics for the tank which fit the curves of the creases. That kind of stuff is a bit tricky for me to do from long range.
To me the acerbis logo is a distraction so deserves to go. If you were handy with filler/paint maybe you could fill the recesses around the acerbis and paint the tank so there was a nice flat section to put a nice big YAMAHA through there. Above that a tuning fork badge and below a big sweeping XT ( too bad about the tank ripple , not so noticeable with italiccy custom lettering anyway)
If you didn't want to mess around with panel and paint I'd still yank the ascerbis logo, unfortunately my art brain has left the building for the night so I'm not in design mode for splashy stuff to go on

I wasn't sure if he meant a printed solid colour over a clear base or individually cut bits of coloured vinyl. The design above wouldn't work well on a clear base, too much open space.

Its about 30cms long.
How much would it cost for 6 of these in grey. Can you do Metallic grey or mirror??

I can do for about $40. Any colour you like but I don't recommend Chrome look as the polyester it is made of doesn't last well outdoors.

BUNGBUNG. Team pie racing as it appears in felt pen is kind of funky but can be reproduced. It wont take much raaaking up mind you. If you want graphic design I do that also. All my graphics are cut vinyl. Multi coloured ones supplied assembled ready to go on.
HOON, Ive Pm'd you my a/c details, just need your address. Silver metallic grey best fit for you methinks, MSTRS is quite correct about the polyester shiny silver stuff, not outdoor durable

Nah, besides wasn't a quoted reply. All's fair in love & the pursuit of a dodgy income. In saying re polyester, there is a PVC 7yr version of chrome available now, but it is very expensive.

Can you put vinlys over the stock stickers and take them off leaving the original stickers intact? I want to cover the pink cbr stickers, and my Dad won't let me get rid of them as it will ruin resale value so I can't just take them off

Yes, but no-damage removal only with luck, unless the originals have been cleared over. Feel the edges & you will know.

easiest fix for you is a roll of matt black vinyl. Plaster away for a couple of hours for instant ratter. So long as you originals are in good nick a bit of hardryer heat on the matt black will see it give up way before the factory ones want to lift wth it.

18th March 2005, 19:48
The orig stickers are in really good nick, thats why my dad wants them to remain there.
Now I've got a basic job and getting a bit more money, I could save up for some fibreglass fairings instead, leave the other aside before I hurt them more than I already have

Hmm, who keeps one of these beasties more than a week after they get their full licence? I'm curious about the relative resale value of the bike with newish fibreglass fairing with partly shagged "learner stage" fairings available to be fitted, compared with vice versa/ brand new fairing.
What's your motivation for customising the bike?

Yep cool. I'm not too worried about durability as this is my race bike and its paint jobs have a live expectancy of about 2 months.

Question...I have a set of custom decals for my ZXR250C (refer to my profile picture) but had to get them from Aussie. I have scanned them and will at some stage trace them to a vector file...If I do this, how much would it be to reproduce the decals?
I'm just worried that if I crash it or ever need to replace some decals it will cost me a fortune (the whole set from Aussie did). Whats the easiest way to convert to a vector file? Does AutoCAD have an automatic trace option? I don't want to spend all day drawing polylines around the Ninja decals! Cheers

There are any number of vector-conversion programs out there. The end result is usually less than desireable tho and needs a lot of cleaning up with node deletion etc. In saying that, the better the resolution of the original bitmap = the better end result. CorelTrace is as good as anything.

cleaning 20mins tops if you're covered in tar
Planning alignment, no time at all going from what you told me
application, squeegeing, 2mins per decal
time for 1 beer
removal of application paper 1 min per decal
Sounds like a wee job to me.

This thread reminds me of a couple of years back I decided to sign write a large YAMAHA across the front of our covered MX trailer...One whole day making up pattern, masking , painting...God I was proud!
Year later son changed to SUZUKI, when to graphics shop, half an hour and $25 flash new sign writing.......Why did I waste a whole day last year? Probably was way cheaper too!:angry2: :killingme

I have put them on now, they look very good. I had no problems, only thing was that the decal tended to want to stick to the backing paper, easily solved with the sharp small bladed knife.

John, I've Pmed you my email so bring on the Kras tiffs if they aren't too big for dialup downloading. I've got ninjas for Africa so don't send those.
I can do "chrome" vinyl on a special order but don't recommend it as it is not rated for outdoor application. Of course some people ignore this and that is why you see it on the occasional commercial vehicle. Silver metallic looks pretty flash, I'd be going with that if it were my bike.

the original ones are chrome with a black shadow and are about 200mm long by about 50mm wide. Are you able to do these for me? I also require the tank decals which are a silver honda wing and a small silver honda for on the tail.
