Has the price gone up again to hire the track? One year ago it was $450 midweek - obviously with Puke closed they have alot more demand.
I have organised 3 days there and went to the BRM recently. We have had a couple of crashes but never hired the ambulance for the day. The BRM one we had to call for the ambo and they were there real quick - less than 10 mins. Just wonder if you really need one for the day as its rather expensive -just a thought? Apparently Taupo track is getting an up to date website with bookings - Does anyone know the web address??? Cheers

We had 60 people at our HMCC ride day and there was HEAPS of room, the main trick is to have the track used all the time, none of this everyone off, debrief then next group out crap. I would guess that for a few of us it would be a race bike setup kinda day which means a lot of time in the pits anyway.

As for the Ambo -If it was just me out there -I'd risk it but if one of you lot got badly hurt -I'd hate to be the one tellin ya -the ambos "only" 10 minutes away. I'm open to feedback on that one--cos true enuff itll make the track day heaps cheaper

I'ld take the risk of not having a ambo there, if we had our own KB medic's there. But then,, I'm only doing 180 km/h max on the KR150. And I haven't even confirmed I can be there yet.

I'ld be prepared to pay $100 if it meant smaller numbers. More track time!

As for the day, I think I have school on those weekdays, so I won't vote yet

Trust me dude --allowing 1X 15 minute session per group per hour you are gonna get about 8 track sessions at least -sitting there looking at a puter screen that dont sound like much--believe me -its HEAPs
I race in 2 classes usually so I get 6x 8 lap races -By the end of the day Im totally shagged. You lot are gonna get about 8 15 lap sessions
and this is allowing worst case senario with 2 hours wasted getting guys off the track and cleaning up crashes etc.

I hear what you're saying and for me thats exactly what its all about -setting the bike up --I like to work on a worst case senario re amout of track time so Noone feels theyve been ripped off.
The Idea is -one group gets waved in and the next group is on the dummy grid ready to go out. I really wanna avoid the slower guys getting intimidated by the fast guys at all costs.
also I dont want any dumb overtaking moves made out of pure frustration. --eg you're setting up ya race 125 and getting slowwed in the corners by a guy on a gsxr1000

I was there with a group of 15 on the track, i found it a good number, personally i dont think you would want to mant more as its such a short circuit. two groups of 15 would be ok but 4 groups of 15 (60 riders)? man thats like only 12-15 mins per hour riding then a 45 mins wait!

FROSTY
6th March 2005, 20:33
The idea is to get 15 minutes every 45. hey if it turns out that only 20 guys n gals sighn up then hey there will only be two groups.
For some guys/gals itll be a first track experience so I dont want em intimidated by the really fast guys.
The amount of track time will depend on how many turn up but Im sure there will be plenty for everyone.

Thats cool man, i just wouldnt like to show up to find 60 riders there is all.

Im guessing you will need confirmation for at least 20 riders then?

whats the payment scheme if we want in?

The slow/fast group idea is great. I'm keen to get out on the track for the first time, so this would be great for people like me. As for date as long as im given a couple weeks notice any time is fine (one of the joys of having a boss who is into bikes).

Hmmm, are the voters non-viewable? When do you NEED to know about this frosty (apart from ASAP) because I'm sure a lot of us know non-KBers that wouldn't mind coming along, another idea to help out with revenue is we could all have a lunch break and then have 2 $10 30min sessions for punters who just want a quick go i.e. KBers who might come from New Plymouth, Napier or even Welly for a day trip ;)

Well mr devious funny ya should say that first of all there will be NO entry on the day. So the deal is a $20 deposit each -non refundable.
Im gonna have to find out how many guys there are going to be in each group Its not so much a problem with total number as number on the track at any one time.

Dude, why would you ride over for the day and not want a punt around the track, one of the best ways to learn what your bike is capable of. Go on put your name down for sunday.

LEt me know as we could ride over together.

Despite his claims that he would have one standing by. I guess it might have been, yeah right, in the ambo shed in town!

Hey Frosty, does that fancy poll thingy tell you who voted? Anyway, I'm in for the Sunday OK?

Some dudes just expect everyone else to do it for them! Maybe justsomeguy you should have justsomeotherguy do it for you, virtual-reality-like,and wearing a head cam. Then you can sit at home with your joystick! Come on!

Ok you lot an idea of costs
Im aiming at $50 per person for track hire. lets just go with that figure for now untill I get firm numbers.
petrol usually costs me about $40 for the day.
If ya stay the nite costs vary a bit but at camellia court it costs $175 for a big room for the nite -Thattll hold 2 couples and 3 singles so divvying costs up evenly itd be about $25 each so roughly itll cost 115 for costs if ya stay the nite.

Im counting at this stage on sunday SOOOO
I Now want pm's/ calls from definites
Im limiting this to 45 riders not including the marshalls etc.
It will be a case of first come first served.
Marshals and other helpers will get 2 track sessions on their own for free
There will be a lunch break so those worried about running outa gas can head off and gas up.

Perfect place to learn some handling skills. But wait til you have (a) bike before committing.
